Still think letting him go was a mistake but good luck to him

Aye. This is where the club needs to get a grip with it's expectations. Really sad that it's put itself in position where it can't afford tp keep a wildcard option like Sammy. If you can't afford that, you're nowhere near being a Prem club.

How do we know it was a financial thing. Boss Mit not have fancied him. He was carrying knocks last season-if we had signed him and he barely played club would be hammered again.

Because the club's not kept 1 player out of contract this year. That says to me there's a clear drive to trim wages, rather than the manager picking & choosing.

Uneducated guess though.

I presume he’s gone because he’s not that good rather than not being able to afford him.

Whether we get someone better or not is the important thing.

Probably released him because as a winger his goals record is about 12 career goals

8 goals and 10 assists for us in 2 years? If we're going on record alone, I'll be amazed if we replace him with someone as cheap who returns that record.

But because we released everyone out of contract regardless, that to me signals a drive to just trim wages, regardless of what they do/don't offer.

Nah we released everyone out of contract because there was nobody worth keeping mate.

Hughton is here to get us promoted, and he’s not going to do that with Ameobi.

Whether he does it with his replacement is another story, but at least it’s possible. Never going to happen with Ameobi contributing something meaningful once every 8 games.

8 league goals in 77 games from a winger is dire.

He is from up there so that might be a reason?

Mighten and Johnson are free and they can do what Ameobi does. If you take Mighten who will only get better and need more opportunities his contributions per game is 1 per 3.4 and Ameobi is 1 per 3.2.

So thats why I previously looked at Ameobi's other stats because our strikers finishing was awful this year which is the biggest reason we scored so little followed by amount of good quality chnaces. I saw Ameobi's key pass rate and crosses and they are nothing special. Its not like Knockaert who you could make a genuine case that poor finishing hampered his assist stats.

With my eyes not stats he never produces consistency and people say well if he was consistent he wouldnt be at Forest but we need players to a similar level of promotion Championship teams and their players contribute more in general.

So I dont get the Ameobi thing as to me he lacks substance and I think people overrate him for pure aesthetics and that could be because we have been so starved as a fan base of excitement that we latch on to mediocrity that shows us a glimpse of what we have missed out.

Surprised he's stayed in the Championship to be honest.

I'd have kept him as a wildcard option on the cheap but equally I'm not that bothered he's gone either. He's certainly not one that we'll miss, partly because he didn't stand out often enough whilst he was here.

Precisley and Mighten has already picked up what contributions Ameobi does so surely its better for us to get Mighten and potentially Johnson playing more and we get 2 more good wingers.

When Samba was distributing the ball out wide to him he rarely got beaten to a header by any fullback in this division, he was our go to out ball a lot of the time when he was on the pitch and we took a dip in form when he was out of the team for a while. That being said you never knew what you were going to get out of him with the ball at his feet but I think people look past what he offered and instead focus on what he lacked.

He offers something different and assuming he wasn't hitting our pockets for ridiculous amounts I'd have kept him around as a 'plan B' to use off the bench, more than adequate at this level especially being bought on from the bench and seems like a decent experienced professional to have around

Will definitely score against us.

That's a brutal one to take. If Warnock sees his quality, then you know it's gonna bite us in the arse.
