Re: Richie Laryea

Toronto have kept a sell-on for him.

?

Have we negotiated a deal in which we paid a much smaller transfer fee than we otherwise would have, on the basis any future sell on Toronto get a proportion of that?

Have they basically TUPE'd the sell on clause to us?

Thanks for the YouTube vid, it was well done. He appears to be a well grounded, well spoken young man with a nice family. With some Championship coaching to cope with the cloggers he may be a great fit for us.

Re: Richie Laryea

If he puts in the same effort as our last Canadian full back I'll be pleased, Jim Brennan always gave his all.

I liked Jim Brennan, he was a decent full back, but not sure that I personally would describe him as someone who gave it their all. Joe Worrall gives it all. Ryan Yates does. Chrissy Cohen did. Jim Brennan? Not for me.

Brennan had to work hard in Harty's diamond system, when he and Louis-Jean essentially provided any width.

Yes,it was amazing how Brennan improved in the final year of his contract-although to be fair,he was a key player
in the Paul Hart play-off team before he buggered off to Norwich for a few quid extra at the end of the season.

The fee is reported around 700-800k

I’m sure that’s Brennan leading the team out just under a minute into the video.

There's an article on the NP where it says he was a midfielder who's converted to RB (a la Cash?). He sounds a proper character.
Lowdown on 'very feisty' Richie Laryea ahead of Forest move

I'm genuinely shocked that Ms Clapson has done some actual f***ing journalism to compile that piece, rather than ask one of her minions to just lift something from elsewhere online.

Good signing! Obviously, MLS is a total mixed bag, but he always looks decent when I see him. Credit to him turning down a big raise and an easier ride to take the challenge of a move to the Championship.

I'm very excited that we've been able to reinforce quietly and effectively right at the start of the window. Even if these guys are all duds, at least we seem to have a plan for once!

To be fair we've followed a plan for the last decade or so, with only a few minor adjustments.

Sell a youngster to keep the club afloat and also enable us to ship in a load of crap from Greece, line an agent's pockets with some Portuguese dross and finally get in a token over the hill Englishman and another ex Premier League player who is a biscuit destined for the bomb squad.

Not forgetting the requirement to shit your pants and turn to jelly at the merest hint of pressure and
expectation.

Left wing back and coming in on his right.

From what I've seen of his highlights, it's very promising signs.

A shame Dane couldn't get Daryl Dike here but it seems WBA's manager (formerly of Barnsley) was able to pull more strings there.

Re: Richie Laryea

Laryea is much more robust a player than Brennan. I liked Jimmy but I think Richie can be better if his defending can be improved. That is down to the Forest coaching staff. The quality of young Canadian players is really increasing, by leaps and bounds. For the next few years they will still be under the radar. A local coach (who used to play for the Serbian na
tional futsal team) has placed six 17ish kids in Europe over the past year.

They got him on a permanent, no way could we have competed for that.

Re: Richie Laryea

there's probably a lot of hidden gems in the canadian league. looking at the list of the top 50 players in the cpl , this guy lukas mcnaughton caught my eye , if worrall goes , this guy looks capable of taking over , strong in the air , comfortable on the ground ,has good pace and can pass and likely won't cost a bomb like english players.

If that guy is a hidden gem, it seems he’s well hidden… he’s 27 in March and has never even played in MLS, let alone European football. For comparison of the level, he plays with a British lad who couldn’t get regular games at Nuneaton last year.

Absolutely zero chance of anyone playing in the Canadian league getting a work permit either, I’m afraid. This chap for example would score 0 points when you need 15.

The only Canadian players we will be signing will be either full internationals playing in decent leagues (like Laryea) or young players with British passports.
