Nigel Doughty statement on OS

It will be interesting to see how those who demanded he leave now come to terms with the fact that we are going to have to sell off most of our players.

Will they be whopping with delight ? I guess they will as this is what they wished for......... ND to go. He has, and now, guess what, we have no money and a wage bill that needs slashing down quickly.

I'm sure its down to all these "fans" emailing various people asking the same questions.

Hopefully now the penny will drop for those who keep saying ND to f*** off. He wants to, nobody is coming in. My bet he will still be owner in 2yrs time or until FFP and player sales balance the books! Then someone like Tim Radford might Take-over the club..

You are calling me names so I am taking my ball in.How old is this man,I wouldn't like to have done any business with this child.

You cannot change the past.

That is it now.

This is where we are.

He has gone. He will not put a penny towards any new contracts. We have to sell off lots of players, possibly over half of the first team squad in the coming 18 months.

Stop looking back and moaning as things are moving forward. Whatever your feelings about him being a spoilt child, its not going to change anything. We are now heading for a player wage train crash, its going to be not pretty and its going to means lots of players sold off.

We all have to look forward now to a very bleak future, simple as that.

Many wanted him gone, he has.

Now live with it.

Further proof that Mark Arthur is a stone cold retard by telling us what we already knew. Thanks for reiterating the point that we're rapidly slipping down shit creek without a paddle

He was responding to the idiot article in the Evening Post the other day.

Strange. I thought all that had already been made clear.

Same here, also it seems like theres quite a snidey tone in that press release. But maybe thats just me reading too much into it.

If you make bad decisions which he undoubtedly has, you don't just walk away and leave somebody else to clean up the mess,it becomes your responsibility to sort it out,as I said before not act like a spoilt child.

HelloThor

Is it about my cube?
don't believe that it was the protests that made doughty leave as he had been talking about ffp and the need for the club to be self sufficient for months before he walked out. it's funny how the club don't seem to mention that anymore and instead are happy for us to believe that a small number of fans drove him out, and in doing so punish us all for being so ungrateful. doughty and arthur are a toxic influence on our club and we would all be better off without them.

The ill-thought-out protest just provided the timing for the inevitable, is my view. So it contributed, but t'was the failure of the England World Cup bit that clearly cooled the former-chairman's resolve with regard to continued high levels of investment (admittedly, high levels of investment generally on the wrong things!)

You're absolutely right, let's bring back Steve McClaren and David Platt to clear up the mess they made!

I think the protestors wanted him to sell and move on not leave us in limbo. What the hell does 'move us forward from a financial perspective' mean? If he doesn't want his money back like he says it means he could sell us for next to nothing, I refuse to believe no one would be interested in that. He's thrown a strop and is sick enough to watch us and thousands of fans die.

No he's not, great a statement saying what we all knew, that he's leaving us to rot with no intention of selling because he has this 'wanting to move the club forward from a financial point of view' mantra that doesn't actually mean anything.

Why does this make Mark Arthur the retard?

He's responding to speculation that Doughty will still bail us out.

He's having to re-emphasise something which was already known because people won't listen? It's like having to repeatedly tell a 5 year old something, almost having to have them learn it by rote. 'No more money'....'No more money'.....'No more money'....

And one other thing - For years people have critisied the club for a lack of communication and suddenly they respond, inside 24 hours, to an ill conceived article which may have created a false impression about the club. I actually think it's good work by the club to respond so quickly, give clarity (for once) - and once again it's used as another stick with which to beat Mark Arthur. For the gods sake give the bloke a break and accept he's capable of getting things right.

Still think it heralds a fire sale though.:(

Nigel Doughty has made a series of errors in his running of the club and, to be fair, has taken responsibility for them by paying for them out of his own pocket. He's decided he's had enough. Assuming those debts to the chairman do not get called in he leaves us financially stronger than when he finally took us over - Although not very healthy on the pitch. At least we don't owe the banks anything.

Agree.

I also Doughty owes it to us in the very, very short term to ensure our survival by investing in a couple of players as it's his decisions which have led us here.

If he wants to take his ball home that's fine, but do it in the summer when we can sell players, cut wages and stabilise without the threat of relegation looming.

If we go down we're screwed. Doughty would then be remembered for the man who stalled and eventually killed off Forest for good in my eyes and I'm neutral on his reign as it currently stands.

I guess the point is, why has the club become so utterly dependant on him propping it up with so much money?

That has been HIS decision alone, and so its completely understandable why when he as done this- people are questioning the sudden decision to just walk away.

The whole finances at the club are structured around him putting that money in. If he wants to stop doing that, its his perogative- but i dont think people should complain about people expecting him to put more money in.

As that is the way he has chosen to run the club, and that is the basis on which he has sold the club to the fans buying tickets and what have you.

This decision has a fundamental, and dramatic effect on the club. Its no wonder people are concerned.

Theres a much wider issue here, than just "being nice to nigel"....its very concerning that over the course of a decade, of apparently putting the club on a so called "stable financial footing", that that basically amounts to one man putting in the money out of his own pocket and loading it with £70 million of debt as a result.

Thats the ultimate reason why we are in this position. Nothing to do with fans being upset, its because of the way one man has chosen to run the football club

You do realise that this 'bleak future' is only in affect because Billy was sacked though don't you? Had Billy stayed and Doughty ahd left in similar circumstances then we'd be a mid-table Championship side playing good football. Just wanted to point this out as your posts seem to give the impression that everything was rosey when Doughty was here earlier this season.

Nigel Doughty has made a series of errors in his running of the club and, to be fair, has taken responsibility for them by paying for them out of his own pocket. He's decided he's had enough. Good post. I personally cannot wait for the day we have a new owner (assuming it's someone who will be good for the club) as there will always be the feeling that Doughty should be making up for major errors in judgement on decisions which didn't need to be made. But like you say, at least we don't owe the banks.

I picked up on this and wondered what it meant. I 'd imagine it means if you can give me all my money back you can have my club. Can't imagine anybody wanting this shower of shit for 70 odd million, sell for a quid and then see if a buyer comes in.

Stop protesting, get your wallets out and buy the club, its only 75 million pounds and its yours, debt free......... go for it.

It's no bloody wonder he can't find a buyer if that's what he's asking... It's a rip off. you can't value a club based on your investment in it, and our income/expenditure sheet is a nightmare

This really could be the beginning of the end for us you know. :(

Relegation takes away 9.5m per year, so we are unlikely to invest further. We are already paying Cotterill, SOD and the Cunningham extended loan without Doughty's money... surely that is already stretching us?

Or did frank and MA start from £0, meaning that we are only just starting to get into debt... if so I say rack it up like all the other clubs all go shit or bust!!
