Nigel Doughty statement on OS

I think you need to look at your first words.....

IF IT IS TRUE....... kind of says its not true and just a rumour, like the Chinese takeover of NFFC and all the other BS stories floating around.
It may be true. It may not be.

Didn't take much research though to find this -

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~2583685,00.html

So that's an investment - a multi million pound investment at exactly the time Forest tell us people are not investing in football clubs any more.

I think the trick is to treat any official statement coming out of Forest as embellished whether it's about the difficulty of bringing in players, the difficulty of selling the club, FFP or whatever else you want to name. Just take anything that comes out of there with a pinch of salt.

A statement from the club/Doughty/Arthur, turning out to contain complete bollox, who'd of thought it? But this one must be a record in the amount of time it's taken to debunk.

Personally have very mixed feelings towards ND. In one hand gratefull for his time, effort and money and I think its easy to forget that he is a fan just the same as the rest of us. There is no excuse for the abuse which has been directed towards him and his family. The guy IMHO has done his best.
I think up untill the protest when he said "i have had enough" he made decsions with the best interests of the club at heart even though they turned out to be at time wrong ones.

That said they have been negatives. Our club does not have the feel of a family club, I would like to feel part of the forest family if you like and this may sound soft but i'll explain. I feel like a punter, a customer reference number, a bum on a seat closed off from what is really happening at the club with very limited information from the club except for what they tell Colin the PR man Fray to tell me. This is something that needs to change.

Timing has also been a major issue as we all know. Yes he has spend many millions of his own wealth but just when you think now is the time he has said sorry not now and it baffles me.

Left back for three or more seasons we have not have a proper left back its been plain to see that we have needed one. Now i know you could say thats down to the manager but come on he has been part of the transfer panel and he also watches the games. I know this much if i was him i would have made it a prioity who ever was manager.

I'm not hoping for some rich foreign investor to come in and use the club to boost his ego. Just for someone who will ensure the longterm future of the club to get it living within its means. Someone who will clear out the deadwood at all levels and make our club once again respected and a good place to be for both players and supporters alike.

For many years, Forest were a popular club throughout the League.

We played football the right way, fans felt connected with the club and - from the mid-70s onwards - we had a charismatic and popular manager who brought unprecedented success.

Forest became many fans "second team" as we had the reputation of playing the game the right way.

That extended to Forest's dealings with other clubs, too.

Now, over the last 15 years that goodwill has been ruined; Forest have become an embarrassment, lurching from one crisis to another in frequently shambolic fashion, with supporters reduced to the role of mere consumers, whilst our Chief Executive, with something of a veneer of arrogance, dismisses calls from supporters - the life blood of the club- for dialogue and openness, whilst insisting that other teams best players want to join us!

We all know what's happened here, investment at the wrong times, poor managerial appointments, baffling business decisions, such as allowing player contracts to run down and players leave for free.

The entire club needs change, almost you feel a complete new structure with new personnel need to be brought to Nottingham Forest.

But whilst ever the former Chairman clings to ownership of the club, all the while claiming he can't sell it, Forest will continue to decline.

And that's the saddest thing of all.

Pretty much sums up how I feel too.

Spot on. Sad sad times. I just hope beyond hope that we manage to stay in the division because otherwise this limbo situation may continue for many years and the prospect of that is gutting.

Something that I have just realised, where did the funds to sign Harewood come from? Surely if it is as it has always been "we've got what we've got and won't be getting anymore" where did those funds appear from?

Great post Chris.

Fray asked the question a few weeks back about him and Cunningham and the answer given suggested an alternate source of revenue had been 'found'. Make of that what you will.

I would imagine his wages are being paid out of the funds that will become available from anticipated sales of players.
