Neil Lennon has been priced at 6/1 to become the next Forest manager.

Just in case you don't know where I stand, SOD, Pearce & Billy Davies>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lennon & Dougie ;)

Adkins is probably the most realistic upgrade if folk don't want to revist the past manager selection. Robinsons the best wildcard gamble. I'd take both them over Dougie any day.

I imagine it'll start with a "Lennon: Reasons to be Cheerful" thread

I like the idea of Robinson... he's taken MK as far as he's going to and I doubt Premier League clubs will be that keen

This looks like someone is playing at classic politics with the fans, it might be Fawaz, some fabricated football writer bullshit or a PR firm (more likely).

Basically it works like this; to cover up a shit dull idea which won't go down well you place a rumour or float an idea that something else truly awful is in the pipeline with some crap reason as to why it might have to happen, then when everyone is in shock and is protesting at that awful idea/plan, place the slightly less awful shit idea/plan and sell it like you are doing people a favour after you have listened to them and taken stock of their concerns.

So you end up with a still shit idea/plan but are quite relived that it wasn't the truly terrible plan/idea that they were originally floating to you.

If we get adkins , it won't make much of a difference. Ask sheffield united fans , they are turning on him.

As a manager Billy Davies is a class above some of the others we've had in recent years.
I really do miss those Billy days, maybe because we're not in them anymore, I just miss those seasons of fighting for the play-offs rather than is being all over with a couple of months to go.

As I mentioned somewhere else in a manager thread, that last day of the season against Leicester City where if we won we'd make the play-offs and vice versa, that was such an exciting match and the atmosphere was electric.
People have been so deflated and downhearted this season, because with every setback they lose a reason to believe our season has any point.

Foreign managers with little or no experience of managing in England are just not good enough, same as bringing in these foreign strikers and expecting them to bang in 20 goals a season, it's just not realistic.
If Fawaz settles for someone like Neil Lennon or Nigel Clough then I can see next season being a Deja vu to the one we just had.

I'm not sure why he hasn't been mentioned much. Think he'd do a cracking job. Might just get bums on seats again..

Shouted his name early on.

Eye catching football, good record of nurturing talent & a winning record. MK getting relegated might help our cause, but I think he'll keep them up.

Robinson is the bench mark though, we need to find some way of attracting someone of his calibre.

Agreed. Patience is key. No rush, I hope Fawaz really explores the options available.

As I've said earlier, I wouldn't mind a foreign coach. Someone who might get the players doing something differently. More of the same will only lead to more of the same

I get it. So you float the idea of Lennon, then install Nigel C?

They're as backwards as half of our fans who turned on managers when top 6 with Danny Collins at CB. From the job I've witnessed Adkins do at Sheff U, he's just what we need here.

Hope they sack him and we snap him up.

Honestly , sheffield united has gone backwards since adkins arrived , they are in midtable in league one (13th position). Our deluded fanbase will be far worse on him than those sheffield united fans.

Not that I'm rooting for Adkins, but for every manager there's always a "ask the fans of one of his former teams and they'll tell you that don't rate him". It's a football forum cliche that goes for pretty much any manager with decent experience.

in my lifetime, the football Sheffield United fans would be most proud of was played under Bassett with likes of Vinny Jones and Brian Deane, or under Warnock with Paddy Kenny and Chris Morgan. Probably the last place I'd turn to for useful insight.

I think you all know where I stand on this so no point in going over that again. But I do find it quite funny how some who advocated change are now squirming in their seats trying to find a positive in Lennon.

Same way as some who went out of their way - still go out of their way to make excuses for Freedman when he was as bad if not worse than the man they wanted out before he arrived.
Pearce was shit but Freedman was even worse.
