Why the f*** are our players who are injured jumping on a plane and f***ing off to play friendlies?

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. We need him fit

I'm sure our physios are aware of his condition and sanctioned him playing.

Think of it as him getting some match fitness under his belt.

Funny farm asylum antics.

And if we're relying on the fitness of ONE hardly heard off and basically untried player - Nagasaki, then we're well and truly f**ked.

Send in the f***ing Clowns.

Because if they don't you will get a hefty fine, and the player risks being sanctioned.

Can we say no?
I don't think we can. We can do the classic Fergie tactic of convincing the player not to go by saying he's got a knock but if he wants to go we're powerless.

Pointless too as he hasn't even got off the bench tonight against Bolivia. Neither did Kouyate. At least the game was played in France.

Hopefully he gets a game in the next friendly against Iran as we need him fit and firing desperately against Leicester.

He was back in training, so technically he's fit.

You hope that the Sengal coaches and physios realise he isn't match fit and choose not to use him.

A club can refuse to release a call-up, but the national body can pursue it through Fifa's Player Status Committee. Then gets legal and messy, which is probably not in anyone's interest.

I do hope you're right PZ, but under FIFA/UEFA regulations are clubs able to overrule a call-up of their player by the FA of the country he qualifies to play for?
Yes if hes injured.
There would be no point in a player travelling half way around the world if he couldn't play. Even Fifa isn't that stupid.

Yes, but in practical terms its unheard of for a National side to challenge a decision on a genuinely injured player. On top of which I suspect alot will come down to the player himself-if the national set up rings him and he says hes injured they aren'y going to push that I wouldn't think. If the player says the clubs playing the jackass and I'm fine then it gets sticky, but thats only going to happen if relations between the player and the club have gone totally down the lavvy in which case he won't be playing any football.

I say this because a good buddy of mine is a team Dr at a top level side and he tells me some tales of player behaviour around sickness and injury....

The reality is that there is a lot of jeopardy for clubs, national squads and players by not playing by the rules.

Clubs don't like it, but ordinarily they oblige players with a release for call ups.

While there will be occasions where a player and a club connive to feign an injury, those instances will be rare.

I agree, nearly all clubs work with national FA's these days. Since most prem clubs will have players from 10+ countries its not worth getting a reputation for being difficult.
That being said there are player who are carrying knocks which the club medical teams know are a significant risk for injury in whom there needs to be common sense shown. I have little doubt that the national set ups don't want to upset that or more importantly risk a season threatening injury on one of their players...this season being a case in point with the WC not far down the road.

But Greek thats not the real story. For them to make a judgement that have to see the player, so although technically they are the "final arbiters" in 99.999% of cases it never comes to that.
If the clubs can document the player is not fit to play, they send the medical files to the national team's doctors. If they can't, the matter is up for negotiations, which are not always successful. We've had huge problems with this issue in the past, especially with African internationals. The final decision is the national team's.

The real issue here is the "clubs documenting the player is injured". Clearly if they can't do that hes not, er injured and theres no discussion. I'm talking about players in whom the medical team at the club documents an injury. If that is the case then there won't be a problem IMO
