Regular for a side that finished 8th in the Bundesliga last season, so presumably fairly decent? Any Bundesliga followers on here know much about him?

He has the same agent as Henderson.

It is a massive agency though, they have hundreds of players.

A centre back with mobility is exactly what we need alongside Joe and Scott.
He played mostly on the left side of a back-three at Mainz.

He was impressive when Stuttgart played Mainz last season.

6’3”, quick, left-footed.

Yes please.

Edit: just had a quick look at the obligatory youtube compilations and he looked a decent fit for us.

Playing on the left of a three. Strong and athletic, he looked happy engaging high up the pitch. I wouldn’t say he was a real Rolls Royce with the ball at this feet, but he looked capable of playing it through the lines. At other times he just cleared the danger which is fine by me.

Had that same quality McKenna seems to have - just a big bastard that is hard to get “around”.

Without looking at stats, I’d guess high aerial and ground dual success?

Pretty much this; I would add that Mainz under Bo Svensson don’t play tiki-taki nonsense, they are a strong, direct side (very much in their Manager´s image) who are hard to beat.

i watched Stuttgart beat them 2-1 at home last season, and in truth it was a fortunate victory, Mainz were solid and Niakhate stood out to me then, hence why I remember him (I like a defender, me).

Out of interest what do folk draw from that? I've got that he's shit at long balls!
No, he attempts a lot of them, which is exactly what I’d expect, given how Mainz like to play, they play a fast, direct game, with lots of pressing.

Also bare in mind that's his percentile compared to every CB in the top 5 leagues in Europe, not his raw numbers.

E.g. he's in the 78th percentile for aerial duel % that doesn't mean he wins 78% of his aerial duels.

Yeah anything above 70 with the context of that sample will probably be very good.

100 would mean they are pretty much the best in the world.

I like the look of this one. Captain & POTY for a good Bundesliga side, good age & is a regular in a back 3.

Data looks good and from the video it seems he brings the pace & athleticism we maybe lack right now in our first choice CB's.

According to Football Manager (which is pretty accurate) he's a powerful left footed perfectionist who can also play left back and wing back to a lesser extent but he's also a long throw specialist. Currently on £13k pw.
