Love all the hindsight gogggles

First two weeks EVERYONE would have been happy to say Worrall, Niahkate, McKenna, with Cook, Boy etc as back ups was a really strong defence. Only then do we get a long term injury, and Worrall cant make the step up. So Cooper now having to make do, but hard to critique where we started from
I'm not sure there's any hindsight goggles by being concerned Cook is starting games at this level? I also don't consider Worrall to not be able to make the step up - something's gone on there.

I think that is the reason, he knows what he is getting from Cook and McKenna whilst he is unsure of others. I think they will start to get sub appearances if the team starts to develop.

Annoying about Niakhate, he looked really good in the first two games.
Yep, we know what we're getting from Cook.

That's the problem.

I mentioned here a few weeks ago that I'd been told Worrall had been giving the team to his brother who was then running off to his mates with it, this is where the leak was coming from.

Pretty soon after Worrall was out of the team

I remember you saying that but why bench him then? And also, if that's true, which it might be, then isn't it a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face?

Either it was malicious (out the squad) or wasn't (slap on wrist and benched for ONE game).

With so many options following our spending spree, you might of thought a couple more capable speedy CBs might have been on our rather large shopping list.

Good question. Possibly a case of Coops saying there's no favourites here, you've let the side down and you have to win your shirt back

Coops has previously described some players as almost shaking hands with the Grim Reaper in terms of their fitness, only for them to miraculously be fit to play in the following match.

Let us hope similar smoke is being blown here, regarding Moussa, because God knows the team needs him.

Most Wolves fans that I saw speak about him had said that his legs were gone and he was a couple years past his best.

Dont recall that. I did have a gander at their forum a few weeks back and they were questioning why they sold him.

I think they played Neves as a CH the other week :ROFLMAO:

Wasn't everyone on here saying after the Fulham game that he was slow and crap as well? A case of the Emperor visiting a clothes shop maybe.
Im not sure everyone was saying it, I certainly didnt. He looked a bit shaky to be honest but "slow and crap" is probably a bit harsh. Maybe our transfer policy is to identify slow and crap players, sign them and never play them?

What's happened to Mbe Soh anyway? Still injured?

Probably be on the bench at Brighton

It would explain why our captain doesn't get a game. He's had a couple of wobbles this year but he's also had a really good performance..

The leak still hasn't been fixed though has it?

So much wrong with this though when you look at it logically.

(a) what would JW’s motive be? Not the behaviour of club captain, product of youth academy, local lad etc.
(b) why would his brother and mates be interested in getting the team a few minutes before it was released anyway?
(c) why would releasing the team early be such a hinderance to us? Teams think we’re the worst team in the league, so it’s not like giving them the advantage of knowing who they’ll embarrass this week would make any difference.

Didn’t that idiot who posted on Twitter (related to Fawaz) do the same thing a few years back? I’d guess more likely something similar from a current ‘hanger on’.

The team was leaked for Villa mid-afternoon so that suggests it's someone else within the club. Whatever the actual answer is it does point to a less than harmonious atmosphere behind the scenes.

As for the defence, I am almost at the stage where I'd get them all to race each other and pick the fastest two.

Joe Worrall is lucky, then, that Comrade Stalin is no longer around, or he would have been shipped off to an Arctic Gulag by now.

I can provide an answer to (b). Knowing the first XI/Squad can give you an edge on player exchange markets. You can match bets on goals/cards, even fouls on some sites. Point is if you know a player isn't playing before anyone else, you have a massive edge. If not in squad you can quickly match/lay against any bets on those players and not lose.

Our leaks this season have been a lot longer than 'a few minutes' too.

I have been like that for a couple of years now, always thought it was middle-age?

Yes I can believe the betting part in this day and age.

I’m not sure how soon the team would be available, the squad yes but the final team on the pitch always used to be just before the game. Again, not sure.

Of course, if he suspected a leak, it would have been easy for SC to ‘release’ a fake team (perhaps to different suspects) then change it at the last minute to catch who it was.

Yeah I remember that, and while plausible I tend not to take that kind of info as fact, just forms a picture. If I were a betting man I'd expect there to be some element of truth in it (IE that something has happened behind the scenes) and that being benched is Joe's penance.

Cook has a lot of experience at Premiership level, has leadership in his DNA, and Cooper has adapted the set-up to accommodate because of his strengths.
Bade is younger and probably quicker, is on loan with an option to buy, but hasn't settled in Nottingham, can't speak the language, and has no Premiership credentials.
Boly has credible Premiership credentials, but from his one appearance for us seemed to have forgotten about "positional sense", was slow and sluggish and looks well past his best.
Worrall... has he fallen out with Steve Cooper, or is it that he has simply lost form and confidence?
Biancone has no Premiership experience and is still only 22, and is one probably for next season.

Yes that's where I'm at with it. I just put it out as info that I'd been told. The subsequent benching of Joe could be coincidental but it also plays into the potential of it being correct.

I don't think there is any motive for Joe and I don't for one moment think it's been done maliciously on his part. I suspect it's his brother and mates getting giddy with having inside knowledge before it's known to others rather than anything else more sinister.
