Truly successful societies are the ones that manage to balance the two. Which is why the UK will never be a successful society.

Really? How are we unsuccessful? I'm not saying anything about perfection, but within the limitations of human nature haven't we progressed quite a way along the successful road over the years. Allowing for cyclical variations.

Every system is flawed but it's the best one we currently have until somebody develops a better one. Socialism is not the answer though, just look at the list of Socialist states. Every single one of them is in an absolute mess in one way or another.

It's not though, is it? In practice socialism is about pulling people down not lifting people up, see Labour and the whole banning Eton thing. Capitalism doesn't care about anyone per se, but it pulls everyone up with jobs and goods.
