Like everything the middle path is the correct one. Respect your fellow man, but make enough money so you can pay him.

Like a football team, you're all in it together.

Winds me up when teams say big spending Nottingham Forest! We spent a lot on 1 player and this season didn't really spend much did we?!

They are a strange bunch some of them! In Hooters before the game and 2 Barnsley lads at the bar just kept shouting loundly 'can't believe this place is open'...............not really sure what they're on about! And as for that very angry Barnsley fan doing the rounds on Twatter - hilarious! Fat twat!

For an away sell out, you could hear a pin drop in their end for the most part.

Piss poor effort.

Somebody in the Labour party should give this a go. They could call it The Third Way or something similar.

That doesn't mean Cloughie was right. As good as the intentions might be for Socialism it has never worked anywhere in the world throughout history and never will.

Only reason it doesn't work is those that commit to it get exploited by those that don't. The perceived glamour of wealth and power is responsible for that. Don't see a solution to it myself though

Thought they were a decent side that looked fairly dangerous in the final third without really ever testing Samba properly. If I was a Barnsley fan I'd be more concerned with how open they were at the back at times, especially in the first half when we cut through them with ease time and time again, despite not being at our best.

I think they'll avoid the drop, but it'll be tight for them. Trouble for them is that the two sides who have started the season really badly may well improve, so there's no side like Rotherham or Blackpool of recent years which takes 33% of the relegation spots already.

Yes that's one part of its major flaws. That's human nature, greed and exploitation will never be eradicated from the human race, it's something we have to deal with unfortunately and it's just one of many reasons why Socialism will never work.

We've sold more than spent but not by a great deal.

Samba 2m
Sow 750k
Silva 1-2m (guestimate)
Jenko 2m
Cheema undisclosed fee

So we're looking at anything from 6m to 8m spend plus any loan fees so it could be up to 10m .

We've sold Osborn 3.5m, Appiah 8m, Aryibi ? Cummins? Gueds? So probably 12-14m sold

We are big spending compared to Barnsley. So what. There were 29k in our stadium on Saturday. What's their biggest attendance this season?

And capitalism works? Billions in poverty. Billions lacking everything from sanitation to education and a planet in the process of being devastated by climate change. Capitalism works for a very select few, everyone else is just too stupid to realise ..

I do wonder why, when any criticism is made of the disaster that is modern capitalism, the first reaction is always „well, Socialism would be worse!“ and then carries on bashing Corbyn, Lenin and Fidel?

The alternative to predatory capitalism does not have to be a socialist utopia.

Capitalism is frankly a pyramid scheme that works best for those at the top. Everyone else is feeding that minority.

Go and read Capital in the 21st Century by the French Economist Thomas Piketty. It’s an absolute eye-opener and he proposes several radically different options that might just work, if a country were brave enough to try them?

I'm not a socialist, I just find socialism is not fit for purpose arguments a little ridiculous.
Why is it ridiculous to say Socialism doesn't work. It's never worked anywhere, ever! Take a look at every country that has Socialism as it's economy, they live in abject poverty.

Where's me hammer?
Proud to be a scab...Yeh,I bet you are!
Brian Clough was a socialist. He supported the miners throughout and beyond.
Consider that,Barry...

What's there to consider?

The Notts miners wanted a vote before they would strike, the Yorkshire miners attempted violence and intimidation before the vote to influence the vote.

In the words of Barry senior "I ain't letting no twat from Yorkshire tell me If I can go to work or not" and he didnt.

Went everyday to work during the strike, overtime, weekends, bank holidays the lot.....earnt more than thatchers official salary a few years after the strikes as well.. in return for that, mortgage paid off by time he was 40, 4 holidays abroad a year still even now being well into his 60s, brand new car every two years...whilst Kes and his mates ate out of bins using Scargill badges as spoons the silly twats

So yeah proud to be the product of a scab no matter what Cloughs take on it was... infact im surprised theres no quotes of clough taking scargill and Co to task, thought hed have seen right through those charlatans and pointed it out to boot.

Capitalism isnt perfect. No system is, but it has fed and clothed the world and enabled incredible technological innovation.

Any advancement on it would be great, it certainly has it's flaws, but mostly we get presented with demonstrably failed or outdated ideologies from the late 19th Century like socialism, fascism and communism.

We are desperate for something which fits the second decade of the 21st Century rather than these failed dinosaur ideologies.

Absolutely nailed it there Ravi. Capitalism is far from perfect but it's the best system we currently have.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
