Matchday 5: Fulham Fan Comments

It's in the stars Lewis Grabban has faced Fulham more times without scoring (including play-offs) than he has against any other team in the Championship (6).

On to Forest at home this Saturday which as I stated is the first of four tough fixtures which could set out our path this season. Forest have spent a bit of money this season and are expected to be in and around the top 6. Forest have scored in every game so far only losing one, a tough game away to West Brom and also earning a great point away at Leeds. This will be a tough one but what a chance to really set a marker, it’s at home, the teams confidence must be sky high and a fourth win on the trot would really send a message!

Forest will give us a tough game, they've scored in each of their previous game, so it might be a nervy game till the end, but hoping we come out with a win as 12 points from 5 games would be a good start with a tough away game to come and the international break disrupting things.

Really quite worried about today. Got a bit carried away with beating a woeful Millwall side I fear.

OUCH!

Damn.

Well at least our record of 170 consecutive games at Craven Cottage without a 0-0 is in tact.

Great goal by Nottingham. No stopping it.

I've seen cairney play more bad passes in the last 10 mins than I have for 2 seasons.

Nottingham have no business being in the lead. We've absolutely dominated proceedings.

We are so far superior to this team - we'll nick it 2-1.

Not far superior at all,Forest have set up to frustrate, and try catch us on break,Betts saved from Grabban or it could have been 0-2. We have huffed and puffed, need to up it straight away second half.

I think we need to play down the left more, it’s not working down this right wing today. Our forwards should be able to get a couple of goals out of this game considering our dominant possession.

Guilty of over playing at times.* We need to move the ball quicker and be more incisive. Shaky start and end to half but dominated between without creating enough clear chances. Midfield need to get hold of this from start of 2nd half and wingers have licence to swap wings a few times. 73% possession with just one shot on target isnt good enough.

If they keep playing handball in their penalty area, the ref surely must notice it evenutally.

Double damn.

Oh well, no surprise really, they should have had the game won before their 2nd goal.

For all our huffing and puffing no real chances they have 2 score 2.

From what I've seen so far, we deserve to be losing.* Lots of possession, with no end product.

I strongly disagree. We are far better.

You must be watching a different match to everyone else.

How many times will forest be allowed to handball in the box??

How many genuine chances have we created?*A few half chances, their forwards are closing us down, our midfield is* passing sideways.*We can't get behind them.*They've sussed us out and Parker needs to work harder.

Only 77% possession today, no wonder we are losing!

Forest have been defensively solid. Solid enough to stop Fulham from scoring. Hats off to them.*Not our day.*I still think Fulham needed to get pace on the defensive side of the ball.*Pace and size.

MITROO.

Start of a great comeback.

Forest are taking the pi$$ out of the ref. Anti football tactics.

What a bunch of time wasters... anti football at its best.

I'm starting to hate Forest.

We have been robbed well & truly.

Awful referee, 11 v 12.

The ref hasn't been the best.

Understatement of the year!!!

You dont win if you dont create chances.

They kept Knock and Cav from scoring. Well played Forest.*Next time.

What utter bullpoo shouldve had 2 pens and the time wasting was beyond the pail.

Fulham had more shots on target.* *Forest simply defended when they needed to and kept two of our 3 attackers from scoring.

How many saves did their keeper actually have to make?

3, two of which were quality. That's all.

We haven't shown the same energy or incisiveness in today's game as we did on Wednesday. Forest have defended well and finished their chances. Move on and hope for a better performance in the next match.

Defending for the 2nd goal truly awful, our achillies heel, needs sorting in jan ....not good enough.

Parker out!

Parker out Should not lose at home with so much possession Parker out.

Back to reality. Very disappointing.

Forest Keeper made two very good saves.

We did not play badly at all...yes the end product was suspect.... we simply out played Forest in every aspect of the game (except the one that counts...goals). To witness a side that lacks quality and is anti-football as it comes with the time wasting, add to that an oblivious ref who ignores four handballs in the penalty box and couldn't get a control on the game....you just hate to see the loss. Had we been genuinely outplayed, fine, fair play - but we weren't.

They scored two goals, we didn't.

Many other teams will adopt their tactics. We just have to be clinical with our chances.

In*the final third we were rubbish, quite good up until that point. Their first goal was the one thing they did in 90 mins, we gifted them a goal and other than that we were comfortable. Shoutout to the referee and fourth official being the worst double act I’ve ever seen at CC. The ref didn’t even enforce the rule of the player walking off the pitch closest to where they are which about summed him up allowing their time wasting.

I think it's a bit harsh to criticise a team who came with a gameplan and executed it perfectly and a lot of teams will try the same thing. It's frustrating but we're a tough game and a scalp.

I thought they defended as a team very well, two strong banks of four close together.

We had an off day up front, which feels weird to say given how much attacking quality we have and the fact we had so much of the ball we took off CM's and CB's for attacking minded players.

One thing I did notice is firstly they dominated us in terms of height, for all the quality of our attacking players they're not the largest in the world.

They weren't awful they came to do a job and did it. Its going to happen again again again. Its up to us to work it out how to beat teams who play like that away from home. Did you see them last week at home to Birmingham, tore them apart 3-0. Forest will be one of the sides up there.

Well done Forest for playing in a way that beat us on the day. It happens.

Shame ref didn't read new rules on hand ball we had 3 clear penalties, their first was offside and the ref seemed to think the keeper can waste as much time as he wants long as you give him a yellow.

How awful were Forest?

How awful were Forest? So awful they beat us. It's the result that matters.*End of.

Not awful at all.* Defended expertly, with Michael Dawson in commanding form.* Lewis Grabban two chances two goals.* Ben Watson organising the midfield screening. Collectively they did a very effective job on us.

Spot on.

Overall I didn’t think we deserved to lose but that’s football and Forest defended superbly for long periods. Credit to them for executing their game plan.

The first Forest goal was fantastic.

Their back four gave nothing away and were positioned across the goal area every time we got near the area. Disciplined defending spoilt only by the time wasting. Full credit to their manager but oh so frustrating.

Betts should have saved the second goal.

Please watch the second goal again and then tell me Betts still should have saved it. Grabban caught it sweetly and it went post and in. With all due respect htf was Betts at fault there?

Seriously ...

I was at the game today. The ref was hopeless. But we didn't lose because we had an incompetent ref. We lost because we were complacent and* gave away 2 simple, soft goals to a team who were strong and well drilled defensively. This is the way teams will have to play us this season. We must learn* from this game and fast.

We lost because they came out quicker than us, defended well and never lost their shape. They didn't come out which meant that we couldn't hit them on the break. On the rare occasion we could have space we were not quick enough. Our crossing was from too deep allowing their central defenders to pick up the crosses easily. Mitro was marked out of the game. Only Knockeart actually took anyone on. However, if we play like we did today we will beat most teams.

I thought the ref was at fault for not dealing with it properly.
He books the goalkeeper for time wasting but he just carries on doing it and when our players complain he points o his watch indicating he's adding the time on. This is no good a booking is no deterrent to the keeper he probably doesn't have to pay the fine. When are these refs gonna man up and follow the yellow with a red. It will certainly deter them from persistently wasting time.*Notts forest ----awful team is commit suicide if I had to watch that crap week in week out. Ref ----- also awful very poor missed two handballs first half.
None of this is sour grapes, I'm always happy to bow down when we're second best and get beat by a better side.

Sorry but why are we slagging off a team that just came to in form fulham away and not only took 3 points, but absolutely deserved them? We should be looking at ourselves on why we didn't beat them, not slagging off the oppo.

Forest were quite good in the first 45. We'd be raving about their goal if we had scored it. Very solid defensively, knocked the ball around a bit.

Second half, they tired and it was basically one-way traffic save for the mistake from Sess. What can you do. Nothing Betts could do on either goal, and they had one other shot on target, which was a pretty simple save. Knockaert's service was horrid today. Cairney wasn't seeing the same thing as the front three. Just didn't have the same fluidity, but Forest deserves a lot of credit for that. Good road performance from them. Lesson learned, hopefully.

If Forest want to play anti football aided by a terrible ref they can stick the points where the sun doesn´t shine. Would any of us want us to employ the same tactics? Not me for one minute.

We were truly robbed. This referee genuinely needs a talking too if not a ban from main-ref officiating for a month. He was as blind to it all as Stevie Wonder.

Forest will be counting their lucky stars.

Blaming the referee is not the answer why we lost.

Wake up call to us really. I said this was our first proper test and we failed. Annoying but it is what it is.

We had 3 times the possession, twice as many shots, twice as many shots on target, 13 corners and less fouls. You're entitled to the opinion that they "deserved" 3 points but that's certainly not my opinion. IMO they won through a combination of (in descending order) Tim Ream, good fortune, poor refereeing, a slip up from Sessegnon and our profligacy. All their Christmases came at once.

They scored more goals than us. That's the bottom line. Sentiment is the same. If we aren't out scoring Forest, at home, we haven't done our job properly.

Can honestly say I've never seen time-wasting and gamesmanship like that before. I'm sure their fans are pleased as punch that they beat us, but their team really were a total embarrassment. Fair enough, the ref played eight minutes extra at the end of the 90, but why, a couple of bookings aside, didn't he properly clamp down on them during the game? They were at it from the fifth minute!

At the end of the day, they’ve come to our home turf and pulled our pants down.

Some really spoiled children stamping their feet on there but also a few sensible ones.

I didn’t see a single handball and thought their fans entitled and poor.

Thanks for posting Calvin.

Epic Calvin, so much comment in good time for me to read after breakfast. Thanks.

The ref must have either been very good, annoying both sets of supporters, or really bad. Suspect it's the latter.

Actually, quite fair comments. The moaning balanced by the realistic.

I love the proclamation of it not being sour grapes by one of them. The one who the most sour of all.

Seems there’s three Fulham camps:
1. Fair play forest, played well when and where it mattered
2. I don’t like it, but teams will do this we must
Learn
3. f*** learning. We had more corners. Forest didn’t keep giving us the ball back quickly and giving us free shots on goal, what the f*** is this shit? I’d kill my entire family before I ever supported a team that tried to close out an away win

That's more like it. I like it when they are having a good grumble. You can't beat a good grumble.
Thanks Calvin.

How dare we not bow down and allow them to win. This is a team that spent £104 million last season. This season just off loaded Sessegnon and further reinforced team with 5-6 premier loans.

"Forest will be counting their lucky stars."

That's two of them. Count them. They weren't lucky either. Earned. Just like our 2-1 away yesterday.

A fair amount of the usual idiots but I think the intelligent majority agreed we deserved it.

"If Forest want to play anti football aided by a terrible ref they can stick t"he points where the sun doesn´t shine. Would any of us want us to employ the same tactics? Not me for one minute."

Give us £120 million to spend on players and maybe we won't either.

Nil perspective from a typical London twat.

They’ll be crying into their quinoa lattes for some time, by the sound of some of them comments.

Keeper should never be beaten at his front post, especially not in those circumstances.

What a load of nonsense. Perfect accompaniment to the Sunday morning, pre-Beer festival coffee.

Great and timely summary. More balanced views than I expected, but some satisfyingly bitter and sour grapes comments.

It always amuses me when fans claim that playing keep ball in the centre circle equals dominating a game.

As for the time wasting... Fulham will employ it at our place later in the season. The same as every other team.

Did anyone genuinely see a handball? I must have missed it.

Great work again Calv, always appreciate the effort to get a window into the opposition fans opinions.

Quite a mix in their.
Some giving credit and appreciating our organisation, some clearly deluded and have a complex.

Love the 'Forest will be counting their lucky stars' comment lol, yep, and they're on the badge forever. Brilliant

Some fine whines and sour grapes balanced by some sober observations. I enjoyed that a lot. Well done Calvin.

If you use the term Beyond The Pail, you deserve to lose. If you use the term trying to be clever and spell Pale incorrectly, you deserve to choke on your ostrich feather gelatine on a bed of braised yak marrow a la foufou de la musette. Well done Nottingham, we definitely deserved the three points.
