Can't get a game for Everton who are shipping goals for fun at the moment. No thanks.

He was in the england youth system during Coopers time there, but wasn't part of his u16's or 17's teams.

Don't really think he is for us either but let's not forget fat frank is a bit of a tool and probably doesn't know a good player when he has one under his nose.

SO what happened to him anyway? Wasn't he a mainstay in their starting 11 before fat frank?

Quick and good on the ball, I think Cooper can get a tune out of him.

As above, if Cooper has identified him then we have every reason to believe this will turn out to be a good signing if it gets over the line.

He also has quite a lot of Premier League experience, and at 26, can still improve a fair bit.

12 months ago folk were doubting Cooper for signing Sam Surridge. In fact some folk got their knickers in a right twist. "Stoke fans say he's shite." "I'll drive Surridge to Nott'm myself, blah, blah, blah."

I love how people on here, and other social media seem to know more about signing players than Steve Cooper and his staff.

Huge yes from me.

As @Robert Learnshaw says, he's quick & good on the ball, is experienced at this level & approaching the ideal age. He would need minimal bedding in period so we could throw him in at any point with less worry.

As for the doubts about why he isn't playing at Everton, he started first choice - he got injured then they signed Coady & he never got back in the team since.

As mentioned before when it comes to Everton players, it's almost irrelevant how they've gotten on at Everton in recent years as it has become such a graveyard for players careers.

The way so many good players careers have gone to shit at that club is so abnormal, that I can't help but conclude that it is a club problem rather than a player problem (or even a manager problem; a world class manager like Ancelotti wasn't able to do much there).

I'd back Steve Cooper to get more out of any player we sign from that club than Everton currently do. There's something very rotten at that club that goes far deeper than the players and manager (as shit as Lampard is).

Just look at how bad their defence has been.

They have Tarkowski & Coady! That sums up them as a club mate. Those two were the best defenders for two of the best defensive sides for years. Yet at Everton they both turn into Prime Titus Bramble.

Everton's incompetence will be somebody elses gain.

At almost any other club, Tarkowski and Coady would be a rock solid defence.

Everton chuck money around like confetti every window and always seem to make really good signings (on paper at least), yet they seem to be in permanent decline.

They could sign Erling Haaland and he'd suddenly become Eugene Dadi as soon as he pulls on an Everton shirt.

If Cooper wants Holgate or any other Everton player, I back his judgement 100%.

Would you have him?
I'm familiar with his name but otherwise I know nothing about the lad, and even if I did I'd accept the judgement of the people who are paid to know everything about him - Cooper, Giraldi, Murphy. That's not to say that the professionals are always right, obviously, because we've signed plenty of duds over the years.

However, if there's anything to it, why should I trust your opinion over theirs on this occasion?
