I'd like him to stay on for another season. Think he'd be very useful for developing the likes of Dale Taylor and Julian Larsson, maybe starting together with one or t'other in early cup games.
Is he doing preseason in his vest and pants?I note that he has not been allocated any training kit at this juncture.
Think he's being made to wear the tight pink velour shorts and off-white t-shirt with suspicious stains that was in every PE departments lost property...according to my sources. #ITKIs he doing preseason in his vest and pants?
I get why they want to keep him around. Despite some voices/observations from outside the team, he is club captain and clearly is well respected by the players and the manager. He is also one of the longest serving players now and no doubt they want to keep a bit of consistency in the strikers room, an older head who has been here and done it before.
Plus, there is still a role for him in squad. He shouldn't be anywhere near the first 11 in normal circumstances, but he has a role as one of the subs to bring on late in games if we are chasing or to help close out. It is all about whether Grabs wants that at this stage of his career or wants a crack at the middle east to earn a few quid.
I think they'd announce if he had so presumably he hasn't but as he hasn't signed for someone else maybe he's waiting... who knows for sureAny news on him and if he signed a new contract?
Not heard anything, also noted his absence from the pre-season spain trip. (unless camera has been good at keeping him out of shot)Any news on him and if he signed a new contract?
No he isn't. So as he's not employed by the club any more he has no place on a pre season tour unless there's a gentlemans agreement between him and Cooper that he trains with us to maintain his fitness.Technically is he even our player anymore?. His contract must have expired?
I imagine he's not short of offers, whether they're all to his liking is a different matter. Can see him going somewhere like Boro who are desperate for a striker
The difference is that Grabban still has a relatively recent record of scoring goals and would be 4th or 5th choice here if he stays.Interesting that he's getting on a bit in football terms and we can still see a role for him here, but players of a similar age going to Derby are ridiculed.
Pretty much sums it up - other than he'd be more than a bit part player in most championship clubsI imagine he's not short of offers, whether they're all to his liking is a different matter.
I'd guess he has offers something like...
Stay at Forest and mainly be an experienced head in the dressing room with very few opportunities to play.
Go to the Championship and be a squad player but with more game time.
Go to League One and be the main man for a season.
Go abroad and effectively retire and toss it off for a year or two.
All of these on reduced money obviously except going abroad. So it all depends whether he feels he has lots to offer still, when you actually watch our goals back from last season he us involved in loads so for me could still do a good job in the Championship. Perhaps he'll do that fir a year then go abroad for a big pension fund.
The main reason Derby are being laughed at is that they're building almost a whole team of 30+ players on the way down.Interesting that he's getting on a bit in football terms and we can still see a role for him here, but players of a similar age going to Derby are ridiculed.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic likes this Post. The main reason Derby are being laughed at is that they're building almost a whole team of 30+ players on the way down.
Even after re-signing Grabban, we'd likely only have 2 players aged 30+ on the pitch at any given time (and often none). Don't think anyone thinks old = inherently bad, but you'd want some balance there.
