Jack Lester

Hawkeye1947

First Team Squad
I see in the Post that Jack is the favourite for the Chesterfield job.
I really hope that he stays at the academy as they are producing so much talent and he is an integral part of it.

I hope Lester gets the Chesterfield job if he wants it.

He is a great coach and asset here but he deserves a shot at first team football. It would be selfish of us to hold him back from going.

Plus, if he does leave - it leaves a Andy Reid shaped vacancy who has just completely his A license.

Jack has previously spent time in Chesterfield, so hopefully he remembers what a shithole it is, and decides to stay with us.

He and Reid are big mates though, so it's possibly just as likely that he'll go to Chesterfield if Jack is offered and accepts the post.

There was a splendid interview with Andy Reid done by Robin Chipperfield last week, linked via the Radio Nottingham Facebook page and (presumably) it will be part of the weekly Forest podcast (if that's your thang) where the Irishman talks of his desire to get back into the game, having done some badges.

I for one would love to see the tubby playmaker back at NFFC in some capacity. There is a lot he could show some of our current lot, let alone the younger players (and that doesn't involve playing the Guitar or balancing a pint of Guinness on your head).

Is he really an example setter?

Overweight and unfit for most of career...

I'm not suggesting we appoint him as dietician or strength and conditioning coach, merely that he's possibly the most naturally gifted footballer to have worn the shirt in the last ten years, maybe he can teach some of our chaps how to take a decent set-piece, for one thing.

Sorry to see him go, but no one can begrudge him the opportunity. Hopefully, Gareth Holmes will stay here though?

Under Jack's guidance, I would also suggest that Chesterfield will be a better destination than across the river for our youngsters to go on loan.

Brilliant club for him to start at. He is loved there so will get given extra wiggling room, really hope he does well and comes back to manage us one day.

After how he & Brazil went on last year?

There'll always be a place for him as a youth coach here. Done a great job, shame to see him go but best of luck to him.

A character. Done well at the academy and naturally wanted to take the next step along the career ladder. Next step after that, of course, is the sack and return to the academy.

Be interesting to see how he does at the “Spirites”.

Wonder if he might be back for a loaner or two in January?
