Harewood set to sign deal to end of season

Red Rooster

I bet he isn't on as much as Derbyshire or Milller and neither of them look capable of scoring 10-15 goals...

yes Matt, but a players pay packet is not inexicably linked to his goals. If that was the case, david Beckham would score a hat-trick every game.

Best example for us to take heart is little Chichirito at Man U - last season he earned about 15k a week compared to Rooney's 150k.... the 'little pea' was a lot more regular in the goal scoring dept, than our Wayne

I say Marlon to bag at least 10 goals between now & end of the season

He used to be shit but i think he's about ready to peak in his second spell at the club :hulk:

He was scoring goals last season in the premiership, on little wages and actually wants to play for the team, what more do you people want? Sure we could sign Messi and people would slag him off

I think the main thing is Harewood is capable of scoring, whereas Miller doesn't actually look capable of either scoring or even playing. One bundled goal against Watford and another against a shite Wycombe side to add to his career tally of 20 odd goals doesn't inspire me we faith. Harewood has at least done the business at several clubs.

Apparently he's signed a 4 month contract with us.

Does that mean he's not available for the playoffs? :)

that would about sum forest up we go on a good run marlon banging the goals in sneak into the play-offs and then cant play him!

Welcome back Marlon... Hopefully we can turn the corner and get some goals now!
Just a thought if we can get rid of the "big earners" say the 15k a week lot, this saves nearly 800k a year each with transfer fees, more... Add to that likes of mcgoaldrought and mcgugan, would doughty still honour his statement that funding would be in place until 2014,where these contracts were being covered by his slowly decreasing "gifts?"
If so, could we get lower waged players who are half decent on 2 yr contracts, with a bit of passion and a point to prove, where we can renegotiate when we know what financial position we would be in? Just a thought, don't know if it is reasonable, or if doughty would be rubbing his hands as his continued involvement would be reduced further?

Marlon scored goals in a struggling Blackpool team, against Premier League opposition.

We know what he brings; he's a big, powerful lad who puts himself about, and you also have the fact that he's a former Forest player so he knows a bit about the clubs current plight and presumably wants to help.

I'll tell you what, if Marlon scores the goals that keep us up this season, then we'll all be grateful to him for that!

Don't lose any sleep over it mate..... my missus has got more chance of being invited into the Playboy Mansion than us "sneaking into the playoffs" this year

No wonder my post count..
Stupid question, but I take it he's not eligible to play until next week?

He isn't a free agent until January 1st.

We might see him against Ipswich in some role.

I loved Marlon the first time around. I have to admit that I haven't seen him play for years but the fact that he's been on the move a lot of late doesn't bode well. f*** it though, needs must and any new faces should be treated as a bonus. We just need a proper central midfielder, wingers, defenders and somebody who can shoot straight now

I didnt. He was mostly frackin awful. He had one good season but thats it. Most of the time hes was atrocious.

My abiding memory of him will be middlesborough away, our last prem (and non battycrease doughty) season...dying moments...whole half to himself...just the keeper to beat. But he was so shite he still missed.

Johnno made marlon look goid. Which is depressing in itself

Cannot, he needs to get permission from the Chinese FA, going to take time, so not available for Ipswich

The club have said he might feature if they can get international clearance from the Chinese FA and FIFA.

Kind of depends if anyone is awake in Beijing.

What has surprised me is that he's been training with us for a number of weeks and it must have been fairly obvious we would offer him a deal, why some sort of a "heads up" wasn't asked of the respective authorities?

After all, there's nothing that says deals can't be done before the 1st, only that they are "official" from then.

What a waste of money.

Big surprise, eh?

- "IF WE HADN'T OF LET TWO GOALS IN, WE WOULD HAVE WON ONE NIL" - Steve Cotterill, football genius.

I think most people assumed Harewood was coming in very, very cheap baring in mind our financial plight at the time - I don't think anyone gave Cotterill credit for being such a genius that he was prepared to pay Marlon like a normal Champ player.

I thought I was the only one that thought he was shite the first time he was here, he's doubly shite this time round, doesn't look good for the likes of derbyshire, McGoldrick, Blackstock and Finley if he and his statuesque partner Miller are getting pick ahead of them.

He's no different to what we've got. Backs to goal, laying it off type of guy. He's 32. He's not going to be running defenders around. It'll be same old same old. Predictable to defend. We need variety.

Exactly what's happened...

Such a bad signing. All his wages added up could've went towards sacking Cotterill

I wasn't heart broken when he jumped ship under Hart, I was especially unimpressed when one season his stated ambition was to make it into double figures. Wow I may have to sit down, 10 goals really*! Mind you his replacement was a bigger waste of space. I'd never actually seen a forward duck to avoid making headed contact with a ball until I saw Marlon King play.

*that said I'd take one of our f*** useless bunch of so called forwards scoring 10 goals.
