If we compare the two on finishing, first touch, technique and long shots then Scarpa goes home with the Hooters girl most nights . . . . and he is coming to experience the culture so that's where he'll be headed most evenings.

MGW's determination and work rate can't be discounted but I'm afraid it only takes you so far and I see trouble ahead and fallings out in the camp.

Best not to bother; send the bogger back.

It’s hard to tell I guess as he has to settle in. But he looks like a bit of quality. Initially even a bit of quality off the bench could change games. He seems driven too as he wants to come and prove himself here.

Weird one this. Generally the Brazilian league is of a poor standard and is like watching a different sport to what we see in the Premier League each week, it's mostly filled with either those that went to Europe, failed and came back, or players not good enough to go in the first place.

Obviously there's always one or two who slip through the net or develop late but Scarpa will be 29 when he arrives which is very rare. He must think he's won the lottery getting a move to the Premier League at that point in his career as I'd imagine he'd written the prospect off.

Then there's the problem of him needing to acclimatise. Nottingham in winter is very different to Sao Paulo in summer...

He's clearly got some ability and seems to stand out at the level he's playing at but I'm putting this one down as a transfer that I hope it will be a success rather than expect it to be one.

Definitely a 'boom or bust' signing this one. Will either quickly set the league on fire...or be sulking and homesick...within a short time.

Having a fellow-countryman, Lodi, at the club, and the presence of some Portuguese influence such as Cafu (should he still be around beyond January) and one of the club's medics, hopefully he'll be able to settle reasonably quickly.

Yeah but who in the squad’s going to read books and go skateboarding with him? Anyone qualified please apply to club now.

Rumour has it Alan Tate loves an ollie and it was a key factor in bringing him in.

I've no hopes at all fir this lad, not because of his ability, more to do with the difference in leagues... he'll probably be amazing then.

Scarpa sounds a gritty Nottingham version of The Great Escape directed by Shane Meadows.

I’ve always been nervous he may not come here as there’s been nothing formal said by anyone.

Trying out a British accent though is enough for me. Can’t wait so see him here and I wonder whether he’ll join us for training pretty much immediately.

Really looking forward to seeing him. The reception he got speaks volumes in a successful side.

If he was 19 and playing the way he has he would have been signed by Real Madrid for £70m.

For some reason I thought he was around 19 - I've just looked and he's 28!

I've definitely got him mixed up with the Aguilera chap!
