like the rest of our foreign legion , he'll take some time to adapt to the physicality of this league and the way forest play. Don't expect too much too soon. one good thing , he can speak perfect english so don't have to adapt to language.

Really hope this works out. I think Lodi not being called up to Brazil might work in our favour. Hopefully we can get him over early to be involved in some of the Nov/Dec break training.

Nottingham's dirty secret
Scarpa is a former Fluminense team-mate of Tottenham forward Richarlison, and Vickery told talkSPORT: "I remember, a few years back, he was playing in the same Fluminense side as Richarlison.

"If you stopped 100 Fluminense fans on the street and asked ‘which is going to the big star?’, 99 of them would have said, Gustavo Scarpa. Richarlison has that Kamikaze physicality but Scarpa doesn’t have that."

So, I am Brazilian, big fan of Palmeiras and fan of Nottingham Forest too... I can tell you guys a lot about Scarpa, he is playing for my team in the last 5 years.

Well, Scarpa is an excellent player, appointed as best player of the Brazilian League this year, won every trophy that he could have won in South America as National League, Libertadores (Continental), Brazilian Cup etc. Now, he decided to leave Palmeiras because he wants a new challenge, to proof himself in a big league and experience life in UK. Brazilian league is not poor as it was in 90s-000s, lot of money is running there and Scarpa had one of the largest wages in the League. Palmeiras have offered him a contract of £100K/week (matching with Dudu, the highest paid player in the league) but he have denied because he wants to experience something different... he participated in a podcast two weeks ago and said he is going to earn less in Nottingham than what he could make in Brazil.
He struggled in his first two years in Palmeiras because he was playing as winger or central midfield, this year, he was the best player in the League playing as RM (sometimes LM) but actually, he is a joker in the team because he cut to the middle inverting with the CAM and acting as playmaker, in this way, he leads the assistances and biggest chances created stats in the league.

For those who think the Brazilian league is weak and its weird to see a guy with 29y moving to a big league just now: YOU ARE QUITE WRONG. Difference in salaries are much lower these days and there are lot of players who struggle to adapt abroad, with the language, weather, food, etc. By the way, Firmino is not among the forwards of Brazil for this World Cup, Pedro from Flamengo is there. As also other players from the Brazilian league.

Well... I think Scarpa could do really great in premier league if the coach knows to use him right. He is NOT a physical player, he won games by his intelligence. I am looking forward to watch him in the league.

Brilliant, let’s hope you are correct sandman.

I think the character side of things are quite encouraging. A player who is clearly loved by fans who know a top player and also a footballer who is coming over for the experience and ambition rather than the money is something you don’t often see.

I’ve been wondering who will be taking him under their wing when he arrives. I’ve got it!
Andy Reid!
Small, skilful, intelligent, precision passing, bosses the game, four steps ahead of anyone else, passionate, thinks a bit left field, likes playing guitar. Just don’t get him on the pop Reidy.

I came here to say exactly the same, but this came first. That's it. Sandman said it all. Lol
.
I would only increase a couple of things:
- He's very easygoing and has 'almost perfect' english, so I think his acclimation would be easy and fast.
- If you expect a magician player like most people think of brazilian players in a nutshell, you're wrong. If you expect a phisically strong player, you're also wrong, but if you want a very intelligent, dedicated and tactical player, there you go. He can play in many positions so that would be great for the team
- Also, he's a very good kicker. He's very good with the freekicks, penalty kicks and most importantly, the crosses, through balls and corner kicks (he's the player with most assist in the brazilian league)..
Honestly, coming from a Palmeiras fan, I am very sad for the team that he's gone. But I'm very happy for him because he deserves this challenge.
We all love him here and we do hope he thrives and that he can save Forest from the relegation.
.
Also, fun fact: He's a skateboarder, a wakeboarder, an avid reader, he can play drums and guitar and he has a fun youtube channel lol
You are very welcome to check it out, even though you guys won't understand the language.

Cheers from a Palmeiras and a Scarpa fan!

Cheers from a Palmeiras and a Scarpa fan!

Thanks for the lowdown on Scarpa, it certainly makes a welcome change to the 'I'll drive him there myself' comments we used to get for a new signing.

One question, have other European clubs tried to sign him in the past, and if so why has he chosen to stay until his late 20s?

The vast majority of talented Brazilians barely make it to adulthood before they've been snapped up by a team in Europe so I'm curious as to how he's managed to slip under the radar for so long.

He flourished for football later in the game, but he has had some offers from Spain years ago and Palmeiras didnt accept it. Also, in this same trasfer window, Olympiakos wanted to sign him. He asked our Manager, who also worked in Greece, and he said "You are talented enough to play somewhere else" so he accepted Forests offer because it's Premier League and he wants to live in the UK.

And also, it's a win/win situation for you, lads. It's a free transfer.
