Financial Fair Play (FFP)

Nottingham's dirty secret
It'd be utter madness to appeal given that:

-It's been clarified that the punishment could be increased.
-We appear to have got off lightly given the PL recommended an 8 point deduction.
-We'd have it hanging over us for the final 9 games. We need to focus on the football & creating a positive atmosphere.
-We could finish the season safe but with the possibility of an increase relegating us after.

This is exactly what will happen, and cement further the simple fact they they are making it up as they go along.

Whatever happens, the EPL have come out of this looking absolutely rancid, and they will look even more rancid when they bend the rules so they don't have to punish Chelsea and Man City. Its as if they think the entire world cant see what they are doing.

Pathetic.
Not forgetting the big 6 nearly destroyed the whole PL with their intentions to break away and form a super league - their combined punishment was a £22m fine.

Man City and Chelsea continue to enjoy massive sporting advantages (that challenge for trophies) whilst using every loophole possible. PSR was initially set up to counter them.

Instead the league now has two clubs with * next to their name.

Is this the first time in our history we’ve been docked points by the way? Are we joining an esteemed list?

It's coming out today that Forest could have their points deduction increased if we appeal. It is so transparent how fake and manufactured this is, Forest were given just enough point deduction the punish them, but also just enough to stop us from appealing (especially with the possible increase) all with the intention of stopping us from appealing.

I guarantee that Everton will get 1 or 2 points deduction for their second charge, just enough to punish them, but not enough to encourage them to appeal.

It's all manufactured.
The appeal process has always been thus . It's j ust we (certainly me) only realised yesterday on reading the report. You would hope Forest's lawyers were fully aware. It's been no secret.

The PL is trying to address concerns about the process being "fake and manufactured" by publishing extensive reports that outline the process, the evidence and the application of their rules. They rules may be relativley new but they have available for some time. And if we weren't clear we should have asked for clarity. We don't appear to have submitted any evidence to say that the PL misled us. More we thought they would forgive us for acting in the spirit of the rules while admitting we are in technical breach.

And now as in any legal process we have cases - Sheffield Wednesday and Everton , for example with the independent board needing to ensure penalties are reasonable and proportionate to those precadents

It pains me to say that I think that the penalty is fair and reasonable. If anything it's lenient.

Unless we have new evidence, suggest we smile politely and move on. Everton will likely use our precadent to particpate nicely with the process and could well get a lessser penalty. That is a consequence of a more transparent , if still flawed, process

Imagine how much of a F You it would be to the league though if they increased your points deduction and you still survived.

You look at our remaining fixtures and it’s only Spurs and Man City games you’d be confident of nil points.

7 of our remaining 9 games, including 4 at home are games we have a chance in. If we can’t get 10-12pts from these we’ll be fully deserving of being relegated.

Crystal Palace (H)
Fulham (H)
Wolves (H)
Everton (A)
Sheff Utd (A)
Chelsea (H)
Burnley (A)

So don’t appeal. Do our talking on the pitch. Attack every game with a positive mindset and we’ll win more than we lose.

This is all superb banter from the Premier League. As I said yesterday I don’t know what we are all worried about. By my calculations and the Premier League rules none of Everton, Forest or Luton go down. We can all sit down and laugh about it at the end of the season. Punishments must be concluded by the end of the season. My bottom three are:

18th Burnley 25 pts
19th Sheffield United 23pts
20th Man City - around -400 pts based on 4pts per charge, -600 if they have been naughty and not complied like Everton.

Question marks around Chelsea as I’m not sure whether they will be charged. Everything going to be ok 😉👍

I wasn’t wrong was I. I must be one of those self appointed legal experts you refer to in other posts.

Actually Col you are not, you made the point yesterday and I respect that you have a far greater knowledge than me in that regard. Your comment was taken as fact on that basis, I'm in no not position to question it mate I was surprised though!

When I speak of legal experts I mean those that act as such, as opposed to ones that actually practice it like yourself. Usually the ones that are experts in construction and planning too.

There's a lot that has been said and so much to mull over. As I'm working right next to Bramley Moor Dock some of the conversations have been "highly charged". Of all the things that come out of this I am focussed on how the club has been run, and the answer is badly. We are financially very well resourced. However, the churn of key staff, backroom and medical, the 'gambling' with PSR (flawed as it is we signed up to it when we took the EPL cheque), the ongoing nonsenses about the stadium, and more. I am grateful for what the Greeks have done but this is not Greece and when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Play it by the book, and let the fam]ns and the players do the talking.

If we end up going down I'm not too bothered. We'll be back quickly, we'll be back better both on and off the pitch, and the fans will still be fanatical and vociferous.

Keep the faith (but make sure that the owners don't tell porkies and have an open and honest discussion about how they will grow the club).

Just have a sickening feeling that the league will appeal our sanction as too lenient.
Which would rightly cause riots if they did as it essentially says they want us gone.
No they wont. If they did it would undermine the whole concept of 'Independent' panel.

I'm trying to catch up on the last couple of days but i'm finding it difficult to follow the hissy fits and arguments going on due to the paragraphs of boring stuff inbetween. Could a mod please delete all the sensible posts about ffp so the fall outs are easier to follow, please?

And the fact that our primary mitigating argument that the whole case has hinged on (Brennan) has been exposed as being total, intelligence-insulting, bollocks.
