Financial Fair Play (FFP)

One of the points raised in the report speaks to a point I raised earlier about calculating risk. The report states that EM believed we would be competing in mid-table after the investment made - 12th (I think) is mentioned.

First, even after the investment made, the total value of the squad was/is not mid-table when compared to the other runners and riders. Recalling my earlier posts on the subject, I think we were/are 16th/17th. This is an important metric as, when applied to previous seasons, it is generally a good predictor of final standings. Particularly, at the bottom-end.

However, this point alone is an argument against the current model and how it disadvantages promoted clubs who will, by any reasonable measurement, have a weaker/less valuable squad than the rest of the division.

Coming back to the point regards risk. If EM genuinely believed we would be mid-table (12th), then it isn't a leap to believe he will have factored this into his risk planning and reached the conclusion that we would be able to absorb any likely future point deduction and still be above water.

If this last point is true, he deserves all of the criticism coming his way as the numbers do not, and never have correlated to his belief.

As far as I can see, the only fact to emerge in all of this is that Cooper did a remarkable job keeping us up last year.
Mid-table expectations were delusional. Look at Leicester with Maddison, Tielemans, Vardy and co. getting relegated.
Cooper got us punching above our weight.
The investment required from a standing start to even begin to compete was always going to risk FFP.
Quite why the club - Randall in his statements - was so confident we were inside the limits is bewildering.

I think you'll generally find in the footballing forum world that the ones that shout loudest about their dislike for ownership or management are the ones that don't really ever go to games which sort of makes me laugh a bit. Everything is very black and white to some folk. Nobody can make a mistake, they would do this and they would do that. The forum has legal experts, architectural legends and folks that can run a club better than a man with a multi billion global empire, its quite remarkable how big a keyboard can make your dick look :ROFLMAO:

FB is even worse, I noticed a post on FB about the fans growing impatient with Taiwo the other day and it was bombarded with aggressive Nigerians, one even claimed "The Africans will come for you", I'm not sure if he had watched Gangs of London but it was enough to make me think :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, lets all calm down and get cracked on, the thread has descended into a shitfest and only one man can save it.

Bonfy, step forward.

A good post.
Before the Premier League got into full swing Forest were run by a committee who generally
showed little ambition before Brian Clough showed up-at which point they let him run the
show extremely successfully.
The advent of the Premier League coincided with the sad decline of Clough and it soon became
clear that Forest needed serious investment to compete. We have had various owners with
different approaches (all of whom have made some mistakes).
Wray/Scholar/Soar-Made a promising start by investing heavily to ensure promotion at the
first attempt but then pulled the plug and failed to back Dave Bassett.
1 out 10 (A disaster which meant 23 years in the wilderness).
Nigel Doughty-A genuine Forest fan but somewhat cautious. He saw the benefit of the academy.
5.5 out of 10.
The Al Hasawi’s-Intended to do well but lacked the knowledge and skills to run a relatively
big English football club.
4.5 out of 10.
EM-Highly ambitious and driven but can lack patience and sometimes resembles a bull in
a china shop.A shade more realism is perhaps required at times.Has backed the club
tremendously financially.
7 out of 10 (Could improve on this if he learns from mistakes).
Finally,I’m not sure if Clough and EM would have seen eye to eye!
I don’t think they would have seen eye to eye Cloughie but they maybe would have had the same ambition and been good for each other and more importantly our club.
The timings for us at the start of the PL were so bad with the owners we had and the retirement of the great man.

Is this the right time to gain a general consensus on how everyone has their Tea?

For me it's a Yorkshire tea bag, little splash of milk and one sugar

I'm pretty sure that if we were going to appeal, it would have been stated as such by the club by now. Considering the tone of the club statement, it would have been declared in that. They have made their point but I think understand what a fruitless exercise dragging it out will be.

We have been given a lower deduction than the Prem League wanted, our rivals expected and most of us on here predicted.

Should we appeal and go down on goal difference there is no way they are going to change the relegation spots a few weeks later.

Having slept on it, I've retreated from the war zone and am now siding with the 'take medicine and move on' brigade. We need that clarity to draw a line under all this and just get on with the task at hand.

It's coming out today that Forest could have their points deduction increased if we appeal. It is so transparent how fake and manufactured this is, Forest were given just enough point deduction the punish them, but also just enough to stop us from appealing (especially with the possible increase) all with the intention of stopping us from appealing.

I guarantee that Everton will get 1 or 2 points deduction for their second charge, just enough to punish them, but not enough to encourage them to appeal.

It's all manufactured.

Just have a sickening feeling that the league will appeal our sanction as too lenient.
Which would rightly cause riots if they did as it essentially says they want us gone.

I can't see them doing it for precisely that reason. It's also in their interest to get this wrapped up as quickly as possible.

That's not even considering the Everton case as well. They've got enough on their plate without adding more litigation.

Nope. I believe in fairness and justice which is core to socialist values. I am calling out the hypocrisy of someone who frequently brings up being a socialist, indeed even used to have a comment to that effect as his signature, behaving contrary to that in a position of authority. That behaviour from self-avowed socialists damages the name of socialism, if you actually care about it. But it isn't about politics, it's about fairness.

I don't mind humour and piss taking. I just object to one rule for one and another for others.

And yet for this, you have resorted to an inaccurate personal attacks and told me to leave this site...
You really are making yourself look more and more pathetic. It is your choice to stay or go. But if I walk in to a shop and I don’t like what is for sale I walk out. I don’t go around moaning to everyone that the shop is shit.

As I said I don’t know how you go on in life if you think that was a personal attack on you. 🤣

This is exactly what will happen, and cement further the simple fact they they are making it up as they go along.

Whatever happens, the EPL have come out of this looking absolutely rancid, and they will look even more rancid when they bend the rules so they don't have to punish Chelsea and Man City. Its as if they think the entire world cant see what they are doing.

Pathetic.
