I think he's been at Derby for over seven years now, while being a first team pro for well over a decade.
If he's been sensible with his money I doubt he'll have much to worry about in the future, it's not like he's not been paid ridiculous money for the vast majority of that time.

I’ve wondered the same. Many professions require the practitioner to have insurance.
It would help clubs make difficult decisions as you say, and hopefully reduce player power by Machiavellian types who know they can abuse their asset value. Way too easy for players to undermine a coach when they’re valued a lot more on the balance sheet.
The cost would be very small, and if a player has a rep for being a bad apple then he’ll pay a higher premium.

Do any legal bods on here know who is responsible for his injuries? He knowingly got into a car driven by someone he knew shouldn't have been driving so is it his fault or the driver's? I'm pretty sure that the driver would have been charged with his death had he been killed in the accident. Are serious injuries different?
