He didn’t put a seatbelt on. That’s the passengers responsibility if they are an adult

Cash is King!
Sheepshagging bastards. Give them hell when we play them. “Richard Keogh, he should’ve walked home’.
It’s lame but it’s 2019.

Do any legal bods on here know who is responsible for his injuries? He knowingly got into a car driven by someone he knew shouldn't have been driving so is it his fault or the driver's? I'm pretty sure that the driver would have been charged with his death had he been killed in the accident. Are serious injuries different?
My, admittedly limited, knowledge about insurance policies tells me this - insurance companies will seize on any slight opportunity to avoid paying out. So I suspect what happened will not be covered by any policy.

All car Insurance policies have to include a public liability element..The fact that the driver and I am assuming he was the named policy holder was incapacitated through driving
whilst under the influence would cancel he main policy but the public liability element would then kick in.
Keogh has the option of suing the driver and from my experience would win his case for loss of earnings plus any other costs accrued.
Makes me wonder if the players cars are on a group policy which is something Forest used until Charles antics with lamp posts made them review.

Where's me hammer?
The legal experts at Derby say once you reach 14 the responsibility is no longer the drivers
Apologies for not being clear on what I meant, I have an insurance background and look at it with that approach.

For things like not wearing a seatbelt that is the case, I wasnt talking seatbelts but injury to occupants.

If you are injured in an RTA any claim for injury comes from the "at fault" drivers insurance. In the case of injury it is the responsibility for the driver to have up to date insurance to protect the car, the occupants of that car and any 3rd parties involved.

In normal circumstances any cash or claim coming RKs way for injury will come from Lawrence's insurance, unfortunately for RK insurance companies dont tend to pay out if the law is being broken and you are a willing occupant of that vehicle, ie drink driving.

For example both cars and the lamppost and street furniture damaged wont be covered, that will come out the drivers pockets, there will be no movement on that.

RK may be ok though as some do pay through gritted teeth to occupants in that circumstance, but the grey area in this comes down to RK knowingly getting in a drunk drivers car, ie keep getting in a drunk drivers car what do you think is eventually going to happen?

I'd be surprised if RK ain't got insurance for something outside of football that ends his career, but again there will be exclusions and one of them may be "knowingly getting in a drunk drivers car"

I'd say Derby are also insured for player injury away from football, but again that may have the same exclusions and could be the basis for the sacking.

I think there's only 1 club left in the world for him - Non League Notts County. They deserve 1 another, don't you think?

He'll do well to play again for anybody. He'll be about 35 even if he can try to make a comeback.

Yep I agree, he'll never be fit enough.

Reidy was only a percent or two away from full match fitness, but it still wasn't enough to stop his injury ending his career.

The chances of Keogh returning to the professional game from this are nigh on impossible, especially after 2 years out.

Lawrence scores again for Derby, who should have sacked him by now given their reasons for sacking Keogh.
