Cox set to leave

Let's not forget that Stu himself said last night that more players would be leaving, and most people on here were always critical of him anyway. Let's not use this as another stick to beat Fawaz.

So if we've swapped Cox for Fryatt and Mackie for Burke, that's pretty sound business in my book.

Agreed

Gifted, but feckless when he puts a red shirt on, there is undoubtedly more to come from Cox but ahead of Fryatt? No. As such he'll want away and probably prosper elsewhere. Reading's a good choice, we're not unduly strengthening a weaker rival and they can afford to give us more for him that many others might. Same goes for Mackie.

A shame, there's definitely a player in there somewhere but he never really showed it consistently.

Leaves us a bit light up top, though.

I like Cox, but I'm frustrated when looking back over the two years he's been with us. He has the ability to be a fantastic footballer but he just can't show it on a consistent basis and his strengths weren't often played to. He doesn't even need to score to be great, his best spell was when Billy came back and we won 6 in a row. He was absolutely magnificent then without scoring, because it was he who helped the rest of the team score so many. He's also scored the best goal I've ever seen live. It's a shame, but I can't say I disagree with selling him, though if we're brining in Holt as a striking replacement I'll be fuming.

@sunbeam007: Any fee for Simon Cox is a bonus. He's on way too much for a Champ club not getting parachut£. I guess Mackie is too. It's pretty clear that

He should be happy, his calls should get through to his stockbroker 8/10's of a second quicker in Reading. That seemed to be a priority for him this season.

Mixed feelings about Cox.

Always thought he had it in him, like McGoldrick. Just needs to trim down, have confidence instilled, the right service and formation around him.

He'll flourish elsewhere.
