Club Statement

If we were Chelsea? 5th in the prem, disappointed because they might not qualify for the champions league?

f*** yeah!

For Chelsea, finishing fifth is as bad as relegation is for us.

I agree with Weasel and hopefully the FFP rules will bring something like that about.

So we're guaranteed money till the start of the 2012/13 season. This must put new contracts into some huge doubt, if the club is unsure about their financial future in the summer. If they are unsure, Forest are the type of club now to take no risks, and offload players.

Something tells me Frank Clark won't be here for much longer. As much as he loves the club, I think these last few months have been a huge strain on him. He talked before the death of Doughty about how much work it was, and it was quite tough. Clark hasn't come out and spoken to Forest Player since Doughty's death. I think he's reviewing his situation at the club. He's ageing, and has seen a 54 year old man pass away, leaving a family behind. I think we'll see him leave the club, wanting to spend the rest of his life with his family, and rightly so.

Wouldn't surprise me if Frank went after we are relegated. He will have the finger pointed squarely in his direction, and sad to say, rightly so.

Yep, no new contracts until a new owner is found for cert. And yes again Frank will want to step down once the new owners come in, it was only as a favour to Nigel.

What a truly depressing state of affairs. Speculating about which rich owners might want to take a punt on us, with the only ones likely to do so being those who believe there is money to be made.

I still think a move back to a traditional club model is the way forward. All this debt and outrageous gambling to try and get to the Prem needs to end. Football needs to change as the economy needs to change. At the end of the day all I really care about is having my football team to go and watch, preferably playing at the City Ground. I don't want any tycoon, speculator or oligarch taking over trying to make money until we lurch to the next crisis.

Why can't we just exist, pay players wages that we can actually afford based on our revenue and see where that takes us. That would be more than enough for me. Can you honestly say you'd be any happier if we were Chelsea?

This man speaks the truth, f*** the boom and bust, we get some oild baron coming to run us we'll only end up in the same shitty state 5-10 years from now.

The idea that the Premier League is "where the big bucks" is at is daft as well, most of those clubs are running at a loss right now. If you want to make big bucks invest in some other industry, the chance of a big return in Football is slim.

Now would be a good time for a local business man to come in, clear the decks and rebuild us from the ground up. I'd be all for a few years in League One if it meant we could shake off the idea that we pay massive wages for players who dont put the effort in.

NFFC Chief Executive, Mark Arthur, commented: "We are very pleased to announce that the Club will have the financial support of Nigel Doughty's estate through to next season while we are seeking a new owner."

First off, leaving a side any hatred of MArthur, I would just like to say that because we are "being financed through to next season", doesnt mean that we will cease to exist if new owners are not found between now and then. It simply means that the shortfall ie the incoming not matching the out going, will not be covered after then - therefore giving Frank Clark and Mark Arthur the summer to balance the books with sales and contract deals that will see NFFC run at sub 100% of its turnover ... This for me is essential whoever is our future owner!

The main reason behind this assumption is beacuse before the start of August a club has to in writing display that they are capable of being able to complete a season to the football league. If this was to happen then Doughtys family would have used this deadline? as failure to do so would result in the football club not being able to start the season.

As regards to potential owners, you can speculate & draw up pointless rumours as if it was a transfer window as much as you like, however I can say now that it is pointless, the only belief that there is anyone out there interested in taking over our club should be drawn from any public commitment or direct quotes of said person (or group).

This person (or group) does not need to be millionaire(s) or even billionaire(s), they do not need to be famous or well know, as spending money doesnt get you everywhere (£75m over the last 10 years surely proves that to you all?) they need to be someone that will ensure that we spend within our means and that we will have a long prosperous future by utlising assets (the training ground & academy) introduced by Nigel Doughty.

People will moan and complain about having to face more years of either Championship or League 1 football, as if it is we have a devine right to be more succesful, well we dont, we dont even have a devine right to exist! This should be a stage where we all take reality checks, we have been out of the top flight for over a decade and failure to support (in any positive way) the club now will only see this figure rapidly extend to two decades so can we all please get behind this football club, with the first aim of staying in this division come the end of april and the second aim of allowing a new owner the time to build their own football club. - The alternatives are of course to bury your heads as far into the sand, demand impeccable football and demand that we travel back to the mid nighties when we were last succesful! But you will be the ones who will have to put up with more oasis/blur/pulp songs!

Well Rangers seem to have attracted a bit of interest. Their Administrator said they'd had talks with prospective buyers.

That depends on how you class a prospective buyer. If someone phones up and offers a pound, thats a prospective buyer, as is someone who offers a million.

Several interested parties, prospective buyer - its all nonsense and marketing talk - when you get a confirmed offer, you have a confirmed offer - until the you have nothing.

I'd think it unlikely that the Doughty family (and estate) would not honor his wishes by refusing t keep the club solvent and functioning until such time as they can get rid of something that is not only a financial millstone but an unwanted constant reminder of bad times.

I agree Erik.

I can understand people coming out with the usual doomsday scenarios, that's how some deal with uncertainty, but forgive me if I don't buy into the hysteria at this point. It was no different when ND was alive and the owner - every year we were apparently being screwed over, were on the verge of administration or worse according to some. Similarly I can't see ND's family just standing by and allowing the club to fall into administration, after all he did.

The fact is, all we know is the club is financed until next season and are looking for buyers. That's all we know. However, we can be pretty certain that nobody will buy a club that's £70m in debt. We can also be pretty certain that a Championship club that's losing a million a month is not an attractive prospect (even one who were twice European Champions).

The Apple arena with every seat having an iPad built into the seat. The centre circle could be made into the Apple logo.

It makes perfect sense

I can see why you have the user name you do, if thats your interpretation.

So far in this sorry saga I have been close to the eventual reality, e.g. people said because ND had promised to meet the contracts he had entered into we were alright for 3 years. I expressed the opinion that all bets were off and the Estate would not necessarily be bound to honour ND's personal commitment - they haven't and, in my humble opinion, even if they wanted to with the money-maker gone they couldn't.
I don't post my views with any sense of grim pleasure.
I am pleased to hear this morning that there is a Blue Knight consortium allegedly preparing a bid for Rangers - hopefully Rangers will be rescued, and hopefully so will Forest.
But with Forest, either the buyer will have to pay-off the major debt to the ND Estate, or the Estate will have to sacrifice part or all of that debt.
Then, the buyer will have to be prepared to fork-out the £6m - £12m per annum operating loss, and find the cash to strengthen the squad, replace the manager etc etc...
They will acquire very little by way of tangible fixed assets; and aspirations for Premiership Nirvana are going to be very expensive to realize.

The finance that you are talking about would be for if we were to continue the way we were going. It was a well known fact that Doughty and Arthur knew nothing about how to run a football club properly.

Say if the club was bought for £25million, they'd need £5million to sort us out for a good mid-table battle next season and a lot of money could be recovered from player sales.

We don't need billionaires, we just need someone who knows what they are doing! From then on, you could have a transfer budget of £2million a season so long as the current players are working well together and we have a good academy turnout.

Get rid of Miller, Derbyshire, Boateng and McGoldrick who have contributed nothing to the cause this season, and that'll save you £2million in wages, and might bring in £2million from selling them.

People over 'analysing' a statement with their own opinions and views and reading something into nothing is some of the best stuff you can read.

It just makes me angry, and sad, and despair for the future of mankind actually.
