The Board of NFFC announced today that arrangements for the future funding of the Club have been confirmed with the representatives of the Estate of Nigel Doughty.

The new arrangements will cover the period up to the start of the 2012/13 season while discussions take place with potential purchasers.

NFFC Chief Executive, Mark Arthur, commented:

"We are very pleased to announce that the Club will have the financial support of Nigel Doughty's estate through to next season while we are seeking a new owner. This will enable management and players to focus completely on the task of retaining our place in the Championship for the 2012/13 season.

"In the meantime, discussions are taking place with several parties who have expressed an interest in acquiring the Club."

Investment bank Seymour Pierce has been retained to advise on the sale process.

Sounds good. Also new owners normally mean a new manager. If they get rid of Bexon and MA too then it's hooray hooray!

Does that mean that the funding doughty spoke of putting in place is now void? I know it doesnt say anything about that, but doughty said he'd cover the period of the current contracts which is, apparently the next 2 seasons.

But on this, it says only up to this summer.

Maybe its just me reading to much into it though?

It does say talks are happening with interested parties, so maybe they are hoping someone else can come in and buy the club first.

So basically, we need someone with plenty of money to turn up by July or we're massively f**ked.

That is what it seems to imply, unintentionally

Yes, because that always goes smoothly... cough, Liverpool, Man United, Derby...

Let's see if Flavio Briatore is interested. He seemed to sack a manager every other week, would keep the fans happy :nowink:

Some Italians have bought the club in my recent game of FM12.

It could be a sign!

United have been to three Champions League finals since the Americans took over. Villa pushed the top four for three consecutive seasons under Martin O'Neill after the Lerners came in. It's pretty parochial to think that a football club can only be run effectively by someone with 300+ matchday programmes in their spare room. Steinbrenner's been linked more than once to us, he has some experience of running a successful sports team.

Beat me to it.
I'm sure we were originally covered by ND's word until the end of season 2012/13. I'd have to check his resignation interview to be sure but that's what I remember.

We appear to have lost a year/season of stability.

I think your right flagman.

The sad thing is, it may push the club to be sold to somneone whos not really suitable to own a football club, in a rush.

Hmmm...interesting/worrying times.

Colin Fray on Radio Nottingham just now suggested the end of funding date will be extended if the club hasn't been sold by then.

Not exactly peace and love over at United, is it? And I'd forgotten about Villa. Aren't they 15th now?

Who is Steinbrenner?

Yes we seem to have lost a year of guaranteed funding, but the fears of his estate wanting his money back seem to have come to nowt.

I hope he has a legitimate source for such a comment.
