Cheikhou Kouyaté

Thought he had an excellent debut yesterday. Looks to be a big presence in the middle-I was surprised how precise his tackling was and positionally he was excellent.
Looks a good signing

I think he was our stand out player today if I'm honest. Not just for the goal but he had a real presence about him that we haven't had since Samba Sow. I don't think he had much of a pre-season to be honest, considering we bought him two weeks into the season and he'd been let go by Palace in May so tiring is understandable.

That said, he's played a lot of games for Palace over the last four years so imagine once he's sharp again, he'll be a main part of our midfield.

He’s good when we are out of possession, but he brings very little to the table when we have the ball I thought.

I was happy with the idea of him as a closer when defending a lead, or playing in front of a back 4 - less so in a 2 with three centre-halves.

Think he'd be better alongside o'brein and Freuler. You have two combative players then and Freuler to get us moving through the lines.

Funny old game, I thought he was utterly appalling!

For me he was just so passive versus what I thought he’d be. His first touch wasn’t good and he was quite slow on the ball.

That said he did make a couple of decent impacts. The tackle with his head really made me laugh, he’s obviously a committed character.

Not really sure about him yet. But Coops obviously likes him so that’s good enough for me

I thought he did well but that the knock first half took its toll. Not sure I like the combination of him and Yates - him or Yates for me, though I think I understand the reasoning: two combative types to protect the defense/free up MGW and JL to attack. Didn't work too well second half for whatever reason.

The best thing today was the bench close to the end. Him and others were kicking and heading every ball, Koyate had his shirt off and getting the crowd going whilst sitting on the bench.

You can't tell me these guys aren't a team, glad everything is coming together and I am not suprised. It was always gonna take time, that goes for managers AND players.
