Che Adams

In the Premier League he has 25 goals and 14 assists in 124 games where he amassed 7,817 minutes over 4 seasons. So every 2.2 games (on average) he has either a goal or an assist purely in the Premier League. Also he has been playing in a relatively poor Southampton team which has finished 11th, 15th, 15th and most recently 20th.

I am not sure why people are turning their noses up at him if we consider he won't be viewed as a starter? He has just turned 27, has lots of Premier League experience, has shown he can produce as a role player in a side at the lower end of the table, the fee doesn't sound unreasonable and his wages are unlikely to be either.

I get the point about is he a substantial upgrade on Chris Wood, but if it is the Chris Wood we saw at Forest after his transfer, yes I would say he is. If it is prime Chris Wood at Burnley, probably not.

All about the price.

People have to adapt to the reality that we are going to be getting a backup play as Taiwo's number 2. We can't afford an upgrade. Same with Iheanacho, if Adams come in and scores 5+ goals as a rotation player that will be a significant improvement to the squad.

I would much rather Iheanacho though, he's a much better player.

Exactly. I was a supporter of the Chris Wood signing till I saw we were spunking £15m on him.

If Adams comes in at the £10m mark and scores 5+ as a squad player, that is good business. Likewise I'd be happy with Iheanacho if he did similar. Even better shift of Surridge and Dennis and bring both in and I think we are in a far better position in terms of options than what we were.

I reckon five million goals might be a bit ambitious, mate.

If we spend a combined 25m on che adams and wood in the hope they get 5 goals it is the type of money you spend and look back at and think you should have just used that to get someone decent.

As others have said he would just be another body. It’s the kind of signing that would make me worried about our intentions to progress this year

Thing is the Rzar there is no reason it couldn’t be a bit more inspiring. A younger player who can develop with the potential to progress.

We already have Wood to do the role of uninspiring experienced backup

EDIT: to be fair to the club it sounds like they are a lot closer to this young Brazilian lad who is exactly the type id rather invest the 10m on

Agree, having both doesn’t make any sense at all. Now if we can somehow offload Chris Wood then I’d be ok with Adams.

I agree. I'm not asking for another first choice striker on par or better than Taiwo, but surely there is someone out there who can offer us something more than Adams for a similar price? It doesn't get much more unimaginative or uninspiring than signing a mediocre player who didn't exactly stand out in a poor side and would cost a big transfer fee and wages. It's not even like he'd be a cheap option...

There are no cheap options, Adams would be at the lower end in terms of what he would cost, if he isn't then move on I agree. But I don't know why people think he will cost a lot.

Adams is mobile & is a handful, he just misses loads of chances. Pretty much the reverse of Wood who is immobile but would take chances when they come.

Southampton paid £16m for him, I'd imagine they'd want to get a fair chunk of that back IMO. Given that his record in the Championship is actually quite good there's no real benefit to them letting us have him on the cheap.

They are absolutely delusional if they think they are getting anywhere close to 16mil for Che Bloody Adams.

I agree, which is why he'll probably stay at Southampton IMO. He's worth more to them (given his Championship record) than whatever any Premier League side would be willing to pay.

We're the club that deemed it acceptable to pay £19m (Inc loan fee) for 18 months of Chris Wood on circa £100k a week. At this stage I wouldn't rule anything out.

Have we even been linked with him recently?
That veritable organ of truth and insight, The NEP, claimed yesterday or maybe Saturday that Forest had enquired about his price.

Edit: they were basing their Story on one in that other veritable organ of truth and insight, The Sun.

To be honest, we've not been linked with anyone really except Henderson. At least not by credible sources anyway. It's ridiculously quiet and while I'm sure there's stuff happening behind the scenes it's increasingly frustrating that there's nothing in the rumours to get us excited.

The closest we got was Natalie Jackson's bullshit about Willian.

Depends what ludicrous wage he's on. They may want rid on the cheap to save them from FFP or such.
