Personally would have wanted double that.

A good PL goalkeeper is going to cost five times that and we're going to have to make that move at some point.

Admittedly if that money pays for Henderson loan and he helps keep us up then it's worth it as its another £120m we can bank with a better reputation to go with said replacement.
You are never getting £10m for a GK that’s only paid Championship football & has 1 year left on his deal & wants away.

Great business. £5m for Samba covers Henderson's loan. So we still have some of the Gunter money left to spend...

Note that the 5 million is euros; 4.3 million quid isn't too shabby either.

Shame to see him go, especially in the manner it's going down. Won't have to buy a pint in the city if he ever comes to visit I would wager, probably get his dinner paid for 'n all

Who said he was going to be second choice?

I never saw any reports saying that Forest were interested in signing another keeper until after it was revealed he wanted away. All those reports came out afterwards and I suspect that once Brice had made his mind up that he wanted to leave Dane and Coops just didn't waste any time looking around for his replacement.

Not sure about that remember reading about pope a week after we went up….I may be wrong

It’s plainly obvious that Brice/agent/brother/not brother got wind that we were looking for an upgrade.

Teddies got spat on the socials and this is how it ends.

Considering he was ‘injured’ in the final he certainly didn’t look so when the final whistle blew.

I personally think Coop had issue with this

€5m fee apparently, seems like a decent amount considering the situation.

If this is true then changing to Henderson wouldn’t really cost the club much money.

Samba goes now instead of next year, gaining us about £4.5m in transfer fee and saved wages. Club loans Henderson for that same year, paying him about £5m. So I don’t see how this change would really affect the transfer budget. The club might be upgrading its keeper for a net spend of about £500k.

That is also assuming we are picking up Henderson's full wages. I know lots of places say we are but I am not sure I believe it.

He’s probably my favourite Forest player in the past 20 years. Loved him even before the playoff heroics.

Confident, enigmatic, brilliant with his feet. Plus all of the hilarious antics. Someone who made me smile from the very start. And let’s not forget he was a very very good keeper.

Gutted he’s leaving.

Good luck to him. On his day he was fantastic and a great character to have in the dressing room no doubt.

Mine too. He was pure entertainment from minute one.

Bores will always moan about his antics but it's what football is about. Winding the crowd up, playing with a smile on his face, showboating. It's what get crowds going and make them love you. When you can back it up with being a quality player as well like he did then you become adored.

I will miss his one handed catches from corners personally, the noise that the crowd make whenever that happens - just pure disbelief is hilarious.

Ah yes, I love the nonchalant one handed catches.

I agree.
I’m not sure how it all
Unravelled into such a mess so quickly.
If Coops wasn’t a fan why not sell, rather than offer a poor contract and if It was the other way and Bruce wanted out but we wanted to keep him I’m sure a fat contract would have made him see the light!

I may have already posted this, apologies if so

But this is another sign of what Cooper has done for this club and people's careers. Say, worst case scenario, we had gone down last year after that start and Samba still put in the exact same quality of matches, think Lens would have noticed him? If he'd still left where would he have gone, lower French league? Would he have stayed in league one? Championship?

Even if we were midtable thanks to Cooper I doubt a club like Lens would be looking to buy him, rumours to be a few million for a guy in goal at an average Championship club?

IF he'd have left he'd be at a worse club on less money, and us being a midtable champ side with him only having one year left on contract, how much would we have got?

Then you look at replacements, I'm guessing we'd have gone with Horvath? Weakening us a lot as we lose Samba's distribution and basically acting as a sweeper. Then what, Smith as backup? some other keeper? Even if we tried to get another keeper how much would we be able to afford, especially with only half a first team currently

Now it looks like we're getting a few million for a keeper with one year left, replacing him with one of the top young English keepers currently, Samba could become a millionaire whilst playing at the top level in his home country with his family.

When did we last even sell a keeper for money? I just remember us signing average or bad ones and replacing with the same, Camp was the exception but we didn't take the Swansea money

Darlow we got decent money for, although tempered by undervaluing Lascelles in the same deal
