Best Forest performance you.ve ever seen

That too was one of my personal highlights, but in terms of significance, I'm of the opinion that the win at Goodison Park on the opening day was better.

Everton were arguably a better side than United but, more importantly, it laid down a marker and the side never slipped from the high standard of performance it set that day.

I was also privileged to witness our last victory at Anfield in 1969 when 2 goals from Barry Lyons sealed a 2-0 win. Despite the fact that we were struggling in the league at the time and Liverpool were at the top end of the table, it was a fully deserved result for us, and also one of the all-too-few standout performances from Jim Baxter during what, overall, was a disappointing time at Forest.

Lets be honest any win by Forest on merseyside is worth celebrating even more as they are as rare as rocking horse shit,

Indeed so.

I recall that we had the usual good following at Anfield (it's good that some things don't change), but as it's now 44 years ago I wonder how many of my fellow travellers that day are still around, or possibly even members of this forum?

I remember being 2 up at Anfield I think it was a news year day a few years ago and I thought I was going to jizz my pants. I think it ended 2-2.:(

What a great night that was!
As usual no one gave us a chance, and it's true that Liverpool were a formidable team. I remember before the game fans were questioning the inclusion of young Birtles. I didn't even know who he was. Then bang, Woodcock squares the ball and Birtles sweeps it into the net. The whole of Europe knew who Birtles was after that.

Not the greatest game and I only saw it on TV but Gary Birtles will always be in my top 5 Forest players simply for the way he ran his heart out in Madrid for our second European Cup win.

We were on the defensive for most of that game but he chased every ball even though it was pretty hopeless most of the time. Everyone rightly remembers Robbos jinking, counter attacking goal but Gary Birtles was tremendous that night.

Its pretty shocking that most peoples post regard games from 20+ years ago. Being a youngster ;) I can barely remember out Premiership days. So I'm going to have to go for Forest 4-0 Norwich (Paul Hart play off season, 2003) and West Brom 1-3 Forest (I think this was 2010, Billy Davies first full season).

Best game, and most heartbreaking is definitely the 4-3 play off defeat to Sheffield United (again 2003).

On the play offs, I think Palace are our best shot of getting in. They are completely shot and it wouldn't suprise me if Milwall beat them on Tuesday. If they beat Milwall I think its game over for us as I really can't see Bolton failing to beat Blackpool.

One of my most memorable games must be the 3-2 win at Old Trafford in 1984 (or 85). Two down, and then turning it around. I was young and impressionable, and Forest on the telly wasn't exactly common then.

The 7-1 against Wednesday obviously ranks highly, but I remember some late 80s games against Tottenham, and I think this was in the League Cup at White Hart Lane, with Keane and Sheringham in the side (as a side note, Nigel Clough almost always scored against Spurs, especially if they had Thorstvedt in goal. The score was tied, and I think it was extra time. Forest completely outplayed Spurs, and I remember my stepdad, who was a football coach, begrudgingly saying "there is no way they won't win this, I can't remember seeing such domination". And Forest did win. Getting that little nod of approval for "my" team from my stepfather was actually a big deal.

Yeah, my Dad's favorite game is the 3-2 over United. He made a United mate who was very chirpy at HT, not so much after!

Cheer up young man.

5-2 over Derby, 5-1 over Leicester, 5-0 over QPR and of course 1-3 away to WBA are recent-seasons performances that deserve honourable mention.

Those are the four that stick out for me.

Derby is the best - A rampaging Tyson against Dean Leacock at RB had only one outcome. Reading their reaction was something like "He should never play for our club again!".

Leicester is also up there, Anderson and Earnshaw's finest hour.

A lot of the recent ones stick in mind, but the 7-1 over Wednesday in 1995, and the 5-1 v Palace in 1991 stick in my head more..

Me and Oldmanred are probably of the same vintage. I'd also go for the 4-0 win at Old Trafford in December 1977. We were already top of the league and had been for a couple of months, but there were still lots of doubters in the media and the wider football world who thought 'our bubble would burst'. We absolutely tore United apart. I can remeber being in the car after the game and the BBC radio reporter at the game saying if you didn't belive in Forest before you had better do so now. What a day to be a Man United hating Forest fan.

I was in the Centenary Stand with my scouse supporting brother and father! Jumped up when we went 0-2 up, and nearly got twatted by some guy in front of us (I was only about 11 at the time).

Bob Wilson was almost choking on Motd finally admitting how good we were

7-1 at Hillsborough for me, we were irrepressible.

I went to this with my dad as a present for my 14th birthday. He was moaning like a bitch for weeks beforehand about having to pay £16 full price for a kid but it was definitely worth it in the end!!
