Best Forest performance you.ve ever seen

The away leg at Cologne.

Not a great game but the way we went about the job and just did what was needed.

Just in terms of results that win is probably the best in all the time I've been a supporter.

7-1 at Hillsborough for me, we were irrepressible.

I was walking back to the car from that game when a white van man stuck in traffic leaned out his window and asked me the score. I told him and he called me a phuqing liar.

My third ever game - Liverpool in the European cup at home stands out for me.

It's much overlooked as it was overshadowed by the final wins but to those of us who bare the scars of that campaign it was a whole lot more. I never ever to this day gone through such an emotional rollercaster at a game as I did that night.

However if there is ever a thread for the most surreal game ever then the first leg must take it.

Stop rubbing it in you old bastards.

I remember us playing really well against Crewe in a 2-0 win in 2007/2008.

That is just depressing.

Cheer up young man.

5-2 over Derby, 5-1 over Leicester, 5-0 over QPR and of course 1-3 away to WBA are recent-seasons performances that deserve honourable mention.

Just looked at our starting 11 in the 7 - 1 win against wednesday, just shows how far we've dropped. :(

Mark Crossley, Des Lyttle, Stuart Pearce, Colin Cooper, Steve Chettle, David Phillips, Lars Bohinen, Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Stan Collymore, Bryan Roy

For me, it was our 7-1 away win against Port vale on the 2nd of February 1957.
It was a frightfully cold Saturday and at the time even though I had not quite reached by 10th birthday I was already a heavy smoker as was the way of the day. Still it kept my hands warm as those Forest men ran through the Valiants like a knife through bread and dripping. Marvellous stuff.

Forest 3 - 0 City, I went to the game and sat in the city end directly across from our great support I went with a city supporting mate and they were starting this revolution and we tonked em and at full time he was threatening to reveal my identity if I continued laughing! Great day out the night out in Wrexham had so much banter.

And a record breaking 7-3 at Leeds.

Forest 2 - 0 Liverpool in the Euro Cup. Forest 0 - 0 Liverpool in the League Cup final. Classic rope-a-dope against the (supposed) best team in Europe at that time.

Great game , Barrett's second goal was really spectacular. And of course you will remember the following Saturday we beat Barnsley 7-1 with good old Tommy Wilson bagging 4 goals; if I am not very much mistaken that is the only time we have won two games 7-1 back to back.

All in all that was a great season just pipped Liverpool to the final promotion spot. Wilson and Barrett were a leathal partnership that scoring 46 goals that season.

How is the chest these days old boy?

That was a night, after the 3-3 at home next day evening post headline " forest sunk by jap sub" we were 2-0 down early on, came back to lead 3-2, the mist was rolling in off the trent, anybody in the trent end at he front and under 16 like me had a lot to contend with that night, urine running down the steps because it was so packed in there that a visit to the bogs was impossible, the surge on every attack and the madness of the 3 goal come back.....and then okidera the japanese centre forward comes on for cologne with a min to go...and scores, hence the headline. I then had a choice to make, my uncle the legend Teg Salt offered me and my bro Ian the following...the away leg in germany or hope we get to the final, i chose cologne thinking we were finished, Ian waited.......the rest is trevor francis history, but bombers header was amazing...........the european days were great, oh i miss them

I remember the third goal vividly it was a rare mistake from Peter Shilton he some how allosed the shot to go under his body. I don't believe you are correct on the headline in fact it came from the Sun and 'Jap Sub Sinks Forest' I still have it in my scrap book. The post may have ripped it off but the original was definately in the Sun.(I am a pedaant I know)

I still remember beating Man United at the City Ground 3:1 in 1967. United were at their peak and legends such as Best, Charlton and Stiles were playing for them, but that Forest team was very good, and surprise surprise under rated by the press. The crowd was over 49000 that day and I was in the Trent End which was packed and swaying all afternoon.

It's amazing the amount of times I can see wingers being mentioned in this thread, goalscoring, creative or otherwise.

Forest have always had a tradition of having penetrating wingers from John Robertson to Ian Woan, Kingsley Black, Steve Stone, Franz Carr, Gary Crosby. The list goes on and on.

It just stands out to me because we haven't had anyone worthy of mentioning in the same category for quite some time now. McCleary can arguably be included but it was just one good season. 4 goals against Leeds away is a nice memory, I just wished he'd stuck around longer.

Manchester United 1 - 2 Nottingham Forest.

Pearce and Collymore - we were brilliant and everybody stood up and took notice of us again.

What a great night that was!
As usual no one gave us a chance, and it's true that Liverpool were a formidable team. I remember before the game fans were questioning the inclusion of young Birtles. I didn't even know who he was. Then bang, Woodcock squares the ball and Birtles sweeps it into the net. The whole of Europe knew who Birtles was after that.

Mine has to be 1977. Smashed Man U away 4 0 and it could have been more. We,d have beat anyone that day past or present

That too was one of my personal highlights, but in terms of significance, I'm of the opinion that the win at Goodison Park on the opening day was better.

Everton were arguably a better side than United but, more importantly, it laid down a marker and the side never slipped from the high standard of performance it set that day.

I was also privileged to witness our last victory at Anfield in 1969 when 2 goals from Barry Lyons sealed a 2-0 win. Despite the fact that we were struggling in the league at the time and Liverpool were at the top end of the table, it was a fully deserved result for us, and also one of the all-too-few standout performances from Jim Baxter during what, overall, was a disappointing time at Forest.
