Anyone else getting worried that there’s no news on a contract - night we have to play the end of the season without him if we can’t agree terms?!

He’s 35, rich as f*** & a consummate professional

He’ll play the remaining 12 games

Agreed an extension to "at least" the end of the season, along with Jordan Smith.

Loans of Bostock, Diakhaby and Semedo loans also extended until the end of the season.

I read that as Watson's going to leave at the end of this season. So we'll be needing a new regista.

35 years young today.

We could do with him bringing his very best game out till the end. Use all that experience.

Hoping Mr Watson has had a great birthday so far.

Been a great professional over the years and still giving his all towards the latter years of his career. Great character to turn it around when things looked bleak for him here not too long ago.

Scored an FA Cup final winner in one of the biggest upsets of all-time, so he goes down in history anyway, but is trying to create more of that history for us.

Happy birthday captain!

Lets hope you have another career highlight to go along with your FA Cup success on this your 35th year.

Considering his return to form, he might see himself a little differently now than the Forest board do.
He's been fantastic this season but he is 35..

If he's not gunna sign, go and get Colback.

I think it depends what league we’re in. I’d give him another year in the championship.

It’s not like he’s got worse through the season.

Ginger Pirlo opens up.

“Yes, 100 percent,” he said, when asked if he would be keen to sign a new deal.

“With the gaffer signing a new deal... myself being out of contract, I’ll wait until the end of the season.

“We’ve spoken about it for next season. Everything is in the pipeline and we’ll just wait and see.”

“He’s been a huge part of it for myself,” Watson said.

“When he took over… it’s not rocket science, without him coming in I probably didn’t have a future at the City Ground. That’s me being honest.

“He’s come in, he’s seen something and the respect we’ve got for each other is huge. Not just that, he understood that I could bring something to the table this season - probably more than anyone else thought.

“At this point in my career, he’s up there with the best I’ve had.

“I think it’s confidence more than anything.

“When a manager believes in you, it helps. That isn’t just me, that goes for any footballer.

“If you’ve got a manager who trusts in you, believes in you and believes in the quality you’ve got, it helps.

“If a manager doesn’t believe in you, then it goes the other way. That’s football. That’s the beauty of football - it’s opinions. Not everyone has the same opinion.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity he’s given me this season. I’ve enjoyed it so much and hopefully it finishes on a real high.”

“I think it was a good point. They’re chasing us in the table and we’ve kept them at arm’s length,” Watson said.

“It’s a tough place to come. They are a team that puts the ball in the right areas and they put you under pressure with set-pieces and long throws, with the big man up top.

“It’s a tough place, with or without fans.

“We’ve got to concentrate on ourselves and take every game as it comes.

“We’re in a fantastic position. Before we kicked a ball this season, you’d have taken the position we’re in now with three games to go - I think everyone in Nottingham would.

“We’ve got to get the job done; finish the job and anything can happen.

“Hopefully we get the job done and we’ve got the extra games at the end of the season.

“It’s a great time to be involved with the club.

“We’ve had a fantastic season so far. Hopefully that continues and it can be a magical season.”

Another year won't hurt, but id be looking for a replacement for his starting shirt.

You would have assumed if we were going to renew it would have happened by now given what was said in July.

Palace will be a good place for him to go and retire as a player, join the coaching staff, becoming the caretaker manager, get the job for real, get sacked. move to Grimsby etc.

QPR are looking at him, not Palace.

It’d be grim if he lines up against Forest, first match of the season.

Bit weary about letting him go tbh. Most of the season he's been brilliant.

Colback is an upgrade, & if Fort Boyard's any good then we should be fine, but McKenna's departure still stings, and I never like seeing good players who've had a good season leave.

Still, done now, onwards & upwards.

He had a great season but time to move on , He probably has another season in him at this level but this is the correct time to let him go , He will be on a few quid so time is right.

Yeah, I agree with this.

I understand the trepidation with letting him go, however: I wouldn't give him a 2yr deal, and I bet he gets one at QPR. Also, I want to see us more mobile as a team, and if we keep him around, it would have to be to play, because a) I doubt he'd stay if he's not going to be starting. b) he's shown he's someone who needs to be in the rhythm of playing a lot to get in the groove. I don't think it would work keeping him about on the bench.

Best of luck to him, as he was nothing but professional, and he was very important last season. He will likely do well at QPR, I think he'll suit a Warburton team (except how much they'll leave him exposed) but I think the timing is right.

If we don't do well this season, I don't think it will be because we let Watson go, it will be because we didn't address his departure adequately. My gut feeling is Colback and this new chap will suit us well. Time will tell.
