I hope he stays, he's been excellent this season. Can understand if he'd prefer a longer contract elsewhere though.

I highly doubt Colback will come here, so hopefully the club has something else up their sleeve if Watson goes.

Pro's & Cons with the Colback/Watson switch. What you gain through Colbacks physicality & legs, you lose Watsons experience, organisational & mildly superior tackling skills.

As for execution, there aint much in it for me, both players can play that role alongside Sow. we've done well to get what we've got from Watson considering, I wouldn't extend things too far.

Experience can only get you so far but he's been so solid that we've never really seen anyone else giving a chance to show what they can do in the same position

We have seen how weak we are when he doesn't have Sow's legs alongside him though. The results speak for themselves. Turns 35 next month. Wouldn't be overly gutted if he moved on.

Colback is also a potential yellow-card in every game.

True enough. You'd hope some coaching from the French fella might curb that side of his game though. Especially the stupid yellows he's rather prone to.

Watto is 34. a two-year deal is probably good business.

Most of his Yellows were taking one for the team

Absolutely this. Colback has great nouse and the idea he piles in getting silly bookings every game is wrong. A lot of his bookings I remember were as Baz says.

And you could always trust him to not pick up a second yellow too.

Id like to sign both Watson & Colback, if had choose one it'd be Colback, There is more legs in Colback & Sow.
Watson has been exceptional this season but he doesn't get around pitch to well, there's reason why when Sow played alongside Watson we've only lost once.
Colback & Sow with Watson, Yates, McGuane cover for Colback when he gets banned for number bookings or Sow when he's injured (if we don't go up)

I agree, Its also worth bearing in mind the amount of work Sow puts in to compensate. Without wanting to take away Sows strengths, if Colback can reduce his workload, he might spend a bit more time out the physios room.

Watson has the highest amount of interceptions per game of any player with more than 1 appearance in our squad this season.

That’s doubly impressive when you consider he apparently doesn’t move all game.

And he’s 75 and never misses a game.

Ben Watson in ‘being massively under appreciated by the fans’ shocker.

As ever, the ginger prince does what he needs to do and goes about his business under the radar.

I had completely forgotten that he scored the winning goal in a Cup Final until I saw an old clip in one of the lockdown football 'fillers'.

Impossible to deny Watsons contribution, I think its more about how we evolve into a more dynamic version of ourselves, particularly at home.

I have noticed those interceptions which he is very good at. It is part of his experience in reading the game.

Don't make this look like I don't want him to stay because I respect everything about the bloke and what he has done this season for us. Great professional.

But on the flip side, he is the most dribbled past player in the league.

Watson has had a fantastic season, but as with every player - if we can find an affordable upgrade , we should.

In my view, the most likely outcome is Bostock's loan being extended for another season and Watson taking a 2-year contract elsewhere.

Toulouse have been relegated, so if they're looking to get the final year of Bostock's contract off their books, it makes sense alround.

I haven't been impressed with what I've seen of no stock so far but I'm confident SL could get more out him with time on the training ground.
