Doing a u turn on Watson. Give him a year.

Aye. In Cash & Watson we've let two key players from last season go. It's always gonna take any team a bit of time to adapt.

I can understand letting Cash go for the money, but I'd have thought the best place to start trimming the wage bill would have been with the shite hangers on which we've signed, not a key leader. :dunno:

Still, at least we signed Bong for another few years

Thought he wanted two years? And to move back to London?

Oh, and his replacement, Colback, didn't even play on Saturday.

Yeah but that won't stop mad Alf stating in every thread for the next few years that we signed Bong instead of keeping Watson, even though we signed Bong 10 months ago and had zero impact on not re-signing Watson

My take is that he would have been prepared to sign a deal for the security of two more years here, but would prefer a move back down south rather than accept anything less. Charlton and QPR were mentioned as possible southern destinations for him, but that appeared to be media speculation rather than actual deals being on the table for him.

Keeping him won't be progressive.

Would be peak Forest to panic and give him 2 years.

We got 6 good months out of him (in 2.5 years), which is 6 months longer than I thought we'd get after seeing him in his first few months.

Glad we've (seemingly) not caved and given him 2 years. Good luck to him.

He was pretty good when he first got here I thought. Think he and Guedioura came in and made a huge difference to the midfield left behind from Warbouton. Starting winning battles and headers in midfield which I hadn’t seen Forest do for years at that point.

It was the second season where he was in and out, injured and asked to do too much where he went down hill. Got a random start against burton and was over ran and terrible and judged on that performance for about 3 months longer than was fair after starting last season very well. People just couldn’t / didn’t want to see it.

I’d say we got just under a year of decent performances from him.

I remember Guedi struggling when he initially came in as he looked miles short of match fitness. Which led to the Watson/Colback partnership and (bar the 5 goal win at QPR) a run of Football that makes Sabri-ball look like Brazil '82.

Nothing against Watson, I'd have liked us to have signed him much earlier in his career when we had the chance but whether it was 6 months or a year, you'd expect more when signing a experienced 'captain' from the Premier League.

Not against Watson staying. Am against a midfield pairing of Watson & Colback used as Karanka did though.

Really good signing for that level.

A shrewd move as it enables him to continue running out to MOK on matchdays.

Good signing for them. Good luck to him.

My Charlton mate has been telling me what a fantastic impact he's had down at The Valley.

Then texts me this evening and says he just received his 5th yellow in 8 games so will miss the next game.

Must admit I had a little chuckle to myself.

Texted him back saying Benny Watson is a yellow card machine. A yellow card machine. A yellow card machine.

You can use plant based products. I tried it recently and tbh it tasted like eggs. Cooked weird tho.

Charlton are another one of those odd sides that always look good on paper and they just turn out shit. The Forest of London.
