I was wondering how they might structure this payment system and why anyone would agree to it?

I guess it could be done as if Forest play him, Chelsea will cover x% of his wages as that's the benefit they're after, but if he's not played then the proportions are different.

So rather than seeing it as a penalty, it would be an incentive to play him.

In amongst the successful transfers and loans there always seems to be one anomaly which, after a while, begins to irritate. This guy is this seasons irritation.

I guess it seemed a good idea at the time, but when the dust settled after transfer deadline day, I'm sure someone looked at the deal and thought "Why?"

Whoever above said back up deal is probably right, and while I believe this guy can play, he just won't play much for us while we have our own talent on the books.

I'd rather see Aguilera getting game time, never mind Yates, Dani and the rest who are currently out of the 11 but owned by us.

Probably best for both parties to cut ties - player needs games (and is apparently good enough to get them somewhere at this level), we need to develop our own players and seem pretty well stocked in the midfield.

It's not worth getting irritated about though imo - this one not working out just points to successes elsewhere, namely Sangare and Dominguez.

wouldn't write Origi off yet.
He has made a couple of cameo late sub appearances and while he hasn't set the game alight, he has looked to have something about him.
Tavares... he was awful against us a few seasons back, when he was taken off after 30 minutes in that Cup game.
And in the couple of games he has been in prior to injury, he didn't look anywhere near good enough.
We have Aina, Toffolo, & Williams who can all play left back to a higher standard.

Neither Tavares or Orogi have had enough minutes to make any kind of judgement yet, though I've seen nothing from Origi so far in those cameos. I wasn't expecting much based on what I'd previously seen of him, though his Liverpool highlights suggests he has more to offer than we've so far seen. I expect to see him get minutes today so let's hope he does something...

Tavares is another who I think most are basing an opinion of due to that cup match. In the little we've seen he looks positionally awkward defensively but he has some spark going forward. It'll be interesting to see how we handle his minutes, because currently we are three games into a supposed ten game purchase option, though we've only seen him for 90 odd minutes in that spell. We'll need to see him for 90 minutes a handful of times to confidently make the call, so I can't see him getting many opportunities from the bench. Wonder if we see him start a few unexpectedly...

Origi's been proper shit in all his cameos. Don't know if he's lacking fitness or if he's just dreadful but if he doesn't improve sharpish then no complaints he gets sent back.

Tavares bit different, he's obviously more of a wing back and we've shifted to a back four since landing Sangare and Dominguez. He's probably in the same boat as Santos, he's not bad but he's not quite right anymore. Victims of circumstance.

Agreed, as you say early days but afraid I have not seen any thing the Capt has seen. Has looked unfit and probably frustratingly this injury isn’t going to help matters

It's funny - said before but today strikes me as a day that we might have gone to a five (and used Tavares), though not after the Villa result/performance.

Should add I much prefer us in a four - back three/five always better on paper than the pitch imho. We need that extra body in midfield.

I recon Coops will go for a park the bus (I don't say modern shite like low block) and hit 'em on the break today.

Think both sides might do that. May as well leave the ball in the center circle for the first half while both teams take up their defensive shape in and around the box!

Whatever penalties we're paying for not playing him can't nebthat much or else Chelsea would happily just leave him here making them money.

I'll be interested to see how many games he gets for Chelsea this season if he returns.

Though possibly they are already looking for another sucker to take him off their hands to keep him fit and coach him.

I think he'll probably become a really good top level player, it's just that we bought in our own more experienced players who would always get game time ahead of him.

If a few games had gone differently we might have more of a safety net between us and the bottom 3. That would've been a better time to risk an unknown like Santos but as it stands each game has been pretty tight really so Cooper has turned to experience.

Saying that, if he was putting in outstanding performances in training I don't think Cooper could ignore him like with Murillo but that doesn't seem to be the case.
