Andreas Bouchalakis

He will go to Austria (Seefeld) with the rest of the team on Monday for the first stage of pre-season.

26 players in total, not counting the two Iranian internationsals who are at the world cup and 2 or 3 additions expected until Monday. One of the 26 is an academy player born in August 2002. Jesus, he's only a year older than my son.

According to a reliable Olympiacos reporter, Bouchalakis caught the attention of our new manager after the latter watched his last match, against Bristol, hence he agreed to take him in pre-season and try him out.

The same reporter reminds the facts about Bouchalakis I have mentioned here before: a long string of Olympiacos' managers see something in Bouchalakis (Michel four years ago, Marco Silva three years ago, Victor two years ago), but then something just doesn't work. He reckons this is his last chance.

Thought we'd got ourselves an absolute gem when he popped those two stunners in against Brentford away.

Sadly, turned out his complete lack of pace rendered him a poor option in central midfield. If he wasn't as slow as an oil tanker then he certainly would have made it here.

I agree mate. He showed what he was capable of in some games (Brentford, Wolves, Bristol) but other times he was really poor and had to be subbed at half-time.

He might be that sort of player because of his attributes. Will need to find happy medium to kick on.

Although Bouchalakis is still expected to leave on loan somewhere, he's supposed to sign a new two-year contract with us. Which means that we're returning the Kapino favour: we're taking an unwanted player off your hands, for the duration of his contract with you.

Bouchalakis is a much better player than Kapino in my view, but structurally the situation is identical.

Your taking a player off our hands that was forced in our hands in the first place.

i think that MW agreed on that move, which actually was pretty low cost. No harm done since this guy was always nice in the dressing room and didn't cause any trouble at all and it looks that he appreciated NFFC.

minor issue.

he is a nice guy and a descent player that the lack of pace holds him back from a better carrier.

Dont think it hindered him as a carrier, he made up for it with a decent eye for a pass.

Different story going backwards though,he never solved the Vaughn issue of struggling to recover from loss of posession.

I think karteo might have meant 'decent career'. Doesn't negate your valid points, though.

I find it interesting that Bouchalakis has not been removed from the roster in the official website, although he now figures in our roster on our official website.

It's not neglect, because Cummings already figures as "on loan". Maybe it's Vrentzos' patriotic stubborness: he refuses to believe he didn't make it.

There hasn't been anything official from either club, maybe they are just playing it out as a loan?

Its amazing how hard it is to get rid of players.. If we just thought about that when we signed them we might be in a slightly better position..

Unsurprisingly, he does very well in pre-season, and at least at the moment (we are criminally behind schedule in acquiring two midfielders) he is guaranteed a place in the roster.

Equally unsurprisingly, he will probably break down at some stage during the season if he stays. It's a pity really, he has the boots and the mind of a great footballer, but not the muscles of one.

At least he gave us Brentford. That's one more great perfromance than many signings in recent memory managed.

Apparently Villa are being forced to play Lansbury because they can't get rid, who'd have thunk it at £40k per week?

Absolute dross player

Even at £3m or whatever it was we had their pants down

We'd have had their pants down at £2.99 to be honest

Shows how bad we have been in recent years that Lansbury was once deemed one of our most valuable assets. Wouldn't even get on the bench here now. £40k a week is absolutely mental.

From Tailor's webchat:

He hasn’t found a new club yet, unless I’ve missed something, so there is not a lot for Forest to announce.
