... and he was subbed before half-time, because he couldn't cope with it....

In January he got hooked at half time away at Hull because he couldn’t cope and looked like he was towing a caravan. So at least he is getting hooked at a higher level. Progress I suppose:)

Bologna started their bid at 4m, hinting that they were willing to go up to 6m and we replied that anything less than 8m is unacceptable.

Lad played full 90 against Spurs in Champions League, how’d he get on GBG & Karteo ?

He was very good. He has evolved a lot as a player. Against a very difficult midfield. He avoided serious mistakes, run a lot, cleared balls, very good tactically and he made some great passes changing the ball from one side to another. He was really good in a high demanding match

He ran 11.7 km, more than any other of our players and second from all players in the field; 92% pass accuracy; tactically brilliant and combative; spread the ball creatively; won the ball just outside Tottenham's penalty area leading to the penalty which gave us the penalty and the equalizer.

Bouch put in some precise long range passes out to the wings.

As expected with Joao, getting brutalised in the championship has been excellent for Bouchalakis’ career

Under someone like Sabri - I think Bouch could have done well here - I did think he seemed a little slow on the ball for this mental division though. Clearly a pair of wands for feet however.

Bouch needs to be paired with a fast DM. Yesterday he played beautifully against a top Premier league side. This means that he has a lot of football in him. He is tactically superb, runs a lot, presses on the ball, holds position, always in the right place to get the ball and pass.

what i want more of him is not to run faster. i want him to think even faster and pass even faster. He has been improved a lot during the last season and seems that he works a lot.

Yep, my query was more about thinking speed as opposed to actual pace...

It sounds like he's really come on and to dominate against one of the best sides in europe says it all...

Could easily be the case Bouchalakis just got dragged down to our level. Playing alongside David Vaughn & behind the likes of Zach Clough is never going to show you in your best light.

Midfield was bang average back then, although Bouch was undisputedly slow, his laboured decision making could just as easily be the lack of options he was given to pass to.

Jesus christ, I think you might be right, what a horror show of a midfield - easy to forget! Geezer didn't stand a chance

Always liked Bouchalakis, glad he is doing well.

Bizarrely his last 2 games for us was the Wolves masterclass where he bossed it and the 0-0 draw against Bristol where I remember him doing well. He should have got more game time under AK.

Felt he had his best game for us, strangely, when he played as the DM/Regista (sorry) in a 4-1-4-1.

Wasn't much space in behind the midfield which meant his lack of pace wasn't exposed, and also meant he had a decent amount of space to receive the ball and play it on.

Always liked him, just needed a more mobile player next to him to cover that lack of pace.
