I remember watching us play PSV. In a friendly around 1986 ish. Can’t remember the score. It was a night match on a weird day of the week

Anyone else remember the pre-season Umbro Tournament in the mid-90s at the WFCG, Chelsea, Man U and Ajax were the other three sides; Ajax had just won the European Cup and brought pretty much that team, including the de Boer brothers, Micheal Reiziger, Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids, Edwin van der Saar, Jari Litmanen, Patrick Kluivert and Nwankwo Kanu?

They were mint.

United had Cantona as well, he was pretty tidy.

I think Cantona is now singing. Not just singing, but writing the music, lyrics and dialogue and action for the video.

His singing voice is a bit rubbish, but when did a little thing like that stop him.

Shame that PSV game isn't at home (from what I can tell). Still hoping for an interesting friendly against a European side at the City Ground.

If I remember correctly the Forest v Chelsea opener ended 0-0 and Chelsea beat us on penalties. The match was so boring that I nearly fell asleep!

I was there for it in what I'm guessing was a brand new Trent End at the time. All I can remember is everyone shouting 'taxi' at Dennis Wise and as a kid having no idea why.

Love a friendly pre-season “tournament”, Sensible Soccer style.

I was at that game - it was during the ban on English clubs playing in Europe but the PSV goalie was former Red Hans van Breukelen and he brought the PSV team over .... as I recall they absolutely tore us apart thanks in the main to a certain tall dreadlocked midfielder they had who looked like he was playing a different sport to the rest of the players... He'll go far I remember saying, what's his name Rudy Gillet, Gullet or something ...

Buggeration, I am on holiday for the PSV game. Love Eindhoven and could have rolled it up with visiting suppliers in Venlo and near Amsterdam. If you do go, the main square is brilliant and the lanes that lead off it are full of bars and a couple of coffee shops.

Is this a definite now?
I'm really temped to go over but don't want to book flights if it's not 100%.
I suppose I could drive it.

I now have an image in my head of Forest taking over the main square singing Waka Waka.

Are these friendly tickets normally sold by Forest, the home team or do you just stroll up on day? Might be the only way I get to see them play.

When I was at school used to spend loads of the summer holidays going to Forest friendlies with my mates to places like Lincoln, Chesterfield, Gedling and Loughborough. Eindhoven, Athens or Frankfurt would be more appealing these days though

I remember that game. He got subbed off and received a standing ovation.

They do a non-league trophy day at Wembley with four teams playing two finals.

Always wondered if it'd be plausible to do something similar with more than two teams at the City Ground pre-season.
Invite Mansfield, Notts County and someone like Lincoln. Do a two day thing.

First day is the Semis, played at Meadow Lane in the afternoon and City Ground at night on Day 1. Second day, final at the City Ground on Day 2.
