If I remember correctly the Forest v Chelsea opener ended 0-0 and Chelsea beat us on penalties. The match was so boring that I nearly fell asleep!Anyone else remember the pre-season Umbro Tournament in the mid-90s at the WFCG, Chelsea, Man U and Ajax were the other three sides; Ajax had just won the European Cup and brought pretty much that team, including the de Boer brothers, Micheal Reiziger, Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids, Edwin van der Saar, Jari Litmanen, Patrick Kluivert and Nwankwo Kanu?
They were mint.
United had Cantona as well, he was pretty tidy.
Didn't we play them in the late 90s too? Or was that feyenord...I remember watching us play PSV. In a friendly around 1986 ish. Can’t remember the score. It was a night match on a weird day of the week
I was there for it in what I'm guessing was a brand new Trent End at the time. All I can remember is everyone shouting 'taxi' at Dennis Wise and as a kid having no idea why.Anyone else remember the pre-season Umbro Tournament in the mid-90s at the WFCG, Chelsea, Man U and Ajax were the other three sides; Ajax had just won the European Cup and brought pretty much that team, including the de Boer brothers, Micheal Reiziger, Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids, Edwin van der Saar, Jari Litmanen, Patrick Kluivert and Nwankwo Kanu?

I was at that game - it was during the ban on English clubs playing in Europe but the PSV goalie was former Red Hans van Breukelen and he brought the PSV team over .... as I recall they absolutely tore us apart thanks in the main to a certain tall dreadlocked midfielder they had who looked like he was playing a different sport to the rest of the players... He'll go far I remember saying, what's his name Rudy Gillet, Gullet or something ...I remember watching us play PSV. In a friendly around 1986 ish. Can’t remember the score. Is this a definite now?Buggeration, I am on holiday for the PSV game. Love Eindhoven and could have rolled it up with visiting suppliers in Venlo and near Amsterdam. If you do go, the main square is brilliant and the lanes that lead off it are full of bars and a couple of coffee shops.
I now have an image in my head of Forest taking over the main square singing Waka Waka.Buggeration, I am on holiday for the PSV game. Now swapping out Carling/Madri for Mythos is one bit of business this summer I can definitely get behind!

Was it a "winter friendly"?I remember that game. He got subbed off and received a standing ovation.
I was expecting plenty in Cyprus but they only had KEO, which just tastes like Carling.Love a good Mythos (or two)

I think it was. Looking at the records it was 15th January 1986. First English team to play against a European opponent since Heysel I suspect. Was it a "winter friendly"?
