AFCON aside, a lot of issues Nuno has had to deal with have been here all season. which is why some of us have been wanting the club to sort itself out before changing managers.

The issues were here LAST season. Namely, random recruitment and injuries. Cooper keeping us up was miraculous and Nuno keeping us up now would still be a good job.

We do look a better side overall, we've got more, better players, however - the set piece thing really is crippling.

I read it's 19 conceded, 4 scored? No other team has that big a swing and it has been the difference in SO many games hasn't it? Everton, Brentford, Brighton, Newcastle, Luton (both games), United in the cup etc and those are just recent ones.

It's cost us more than the iffy refereeing decisions so the club as a whole needs to sort it the f*** out for these last 9 games. We're not down but we're heading that way and it would be fully deserved.

Finding a decent manager is mostly just luck. So many clubs find a decent manager, then he leaves for whatever reason, they never recruit as well again and disappear into the pack. Happens to every club. The Big6 survive because they have the resources to throw at a problem, so no matter how bad the coach, they can stay above the parapet. They also have the money to get the better coaches.

When Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth sack their coach or he leaves for pastures green, they will sink.

I'm honestly not too bothered what happens now. I still think we'll get over the line but I'm not going to lose any sleep if we don't.
If we do go down it'll be nice to go for a pint pre match and talk about players and not FFP and VAR. Seeing some home grown talent come through would also be a nice change - you can keep the Linguards and Shelveys of this world.
This season has been horrible, just a total mess all the way through, the sooner it's over the better.

Having no game next week should be a nice way to forget about it but no doubt season ticket prices will be announced, so they'll still find a way to ruin the weekend. .

I don't disagree tbh Alf. He's been handed many if the same issues and also managed to gain some very difficult new problems.

If we can squeak through survival I think we will be in a much better place to stabilise a bit next season

We don't appear to have a great deal of team spirit, and team spirit kept us up last season.
We appear in sangare to have paid a record fee for a player who neither fits in to our system, nor wants to be here.
We will have a significant hit to our bottom line each year we keep him here, while we write off each year remaining on his contract, and also his wages.
If we manage to sell him, we will probably have a reall big write-off as the undepreciated balance of the £37m hits the bottom line in one year (less the value we realise on his sale).
The best scenario is that he actually comes good, his performances contribute to us staying up, and everything in the forest garden comes up roses.

90% Forest problems of their making. Winning games makes all the difference, not defending

I can’t tolerate this safety first negative approach anymore, be it prem league or championship, and tbh I don’t actually believe the club is taking the prem league seriously anyway. The most annoying factor is that the team is capable and has improved no end… so why does the manager have no faith?

I usually like to give players a season to adapt but I just don't see him ever coming good. That steady, languid style never works in the Prem, and we've seen it with much more talented players than him. Absolute disaster of a signing.

Just properly looked at our remaining games and kinda drew a sigh of relief. We're being given chances in terms of fixtures and potential points. We need to start winning ffs lol it's very simple.

Relying on others being dross is all well and grand but that can easily turn. This is very doable and we have the individuals to escape relegation - question is do we have the team?

Mood update: disappointed.

I know we've been f**ked over by the EPL both in terms of decisions on the field and the ridiculous FFP rules and even more ridiculous FFP process but sadly I really think this team (management and players) is letting us down right now.

The inability to create any threat from our set pieces and the insistence that MGW takes corners and hits the first man every time.
The inability to concentrate in the last 10 minutes of a game and to put your body on the line to prevent the opposition scoring.
The inability to get a solid head on the ball when it comes into our box.
The inability to remain on the front foot when we have a lead, instead inviting teams onto us.
The (at times) questionable team selection - both in terms of playing people before they have fully recovered from injury and in terms of leaving out players in form.
The lack of minutes for Reyna - has to be worth a go at some point, especially when MGW needs a rest
The recruitment but then subsequent sidelining of a set piece coach
The pointless involvement of Clattenburg

I really don't think we have the smarts to stay up this season. We have the players ... but we just don't seem to have the nouse.

As I said on another thread - Nuno cannot demand bravery from his players if he decides to switch to ‘defence vs attack’ & invite the opposition to play in our half for the last 15 minutes.
Yep.

Nuno looked a breath of fresh air when he first arrived.

Sadly he's reverted into defensive tactics and sitting far, far, far too deep, playing to not lose games rather than to win them. Same trap that Cooper couldn't get out of. Also hasn't even remotely fixed our set piece weaknesses.

This one's on the coaching IMO. When we get out on the front foot and play positively we look like a top half team (albeit with an absolute inability to defend a set play).

I have trust issues developing with the club management away from the team, but the players and coach will always have my full support.

Today is a good day. We know the outcome, no more guessing and we now know what we need to do. Im confident we have the players to do it, and i look forward to some stabilising over the summer where we have learnt from the mistakes of the past.

We've dropped 21 points from winning positions this season. That is both frustrating but also a stat thst can be worked on - set pieces are a weakness that can be ironed out. Even halfing that number keeps the silver hairs at bay.

Delighted with Neco last few months. Ditto Toff and Murilo. The lightning fast counters are exciting too.

Quietly optimistic for rest of the season. Then the real hard work begins in the summer to build further. Would also like to see MGW at least share set piece duties. Like Toff but miss Aina. Omo getting really good experience this season - it'll serve him well. Elanga and CHO have a real exciting times ahead here. Jury still out on midfield and best set up/mix. Sangare and Yates need to play for their places.

Praying Nuno can get this side over the line.

Somewhat annoyed at the points penalty, though I'm also relieved that it's only four. Bit of a split personality at the moment.

Also now feeling that the tension is over and we can go forward knowing that every point we earn is ours to enjoy. Hopefully those points will be enough.

I'd pretty much echo that @valspoodle. Its within our grasp and we've got time to galvanise and push on.

We tried something and in truth would have been damned if we didn't do it as much as we did.

The certainty, us not being completely killed by the penalty and the opportunity of having two consecutive home games means its all to play for and that makes me hopeful.

Think now is the time we have to come together as a fanbase big Detroit Lions fan and in Detroit there is a saying Detroit VS Everybody well how about Nottingham Forest VS Everybody. We need to make the city ground a fortress again bring the atmosphere and use the deduction as motivation to inspire the team and hope the team do the same.

We have 9 cup finals and the good news is I imagine we might only need to win 4 of them to stay in this league.
