Financial Fair Play (FFP)

Imagine if Billy Davies was still here and how he would cope with these decisions… 😅

The rules suck yes. But we knew what they were and still acted as we did.

Also remember due to promotions bonuses (I assume) we lost £40mil in the championship. That was an avoidable loss. Especially as our promotion team was almost entirely loan and academy based.
Agreed, this was avoidable and in no small part due to our own incompetence.

But if the season ends in farce, that is entirely the Premier League's fault and not ours.

And the intent of the rules should be clear to all.

Sod the big 6, the rest of the leagues needs to stick together and reform the league to benefit us not them.

It's difficult.

When we got promoted Marinakis said we would be voting with the big clubs. He wanted to play in the big time and be seen as part of the power block.

And last week Forest were one of 10 clubs who voted against extending Solidarity Payments to the EFL.

So sometimes we like the unfairness.

This form of FFP will now end. So we can't change that.

Will be building a coalition of the willing inside the EPL, assuming we stay up? I doubt it.
On the price of football they said that voting for extending the payments would have cost us £8m next year. No wonder the clubs that can’t afford that didn’t vote for it

Yeah sure, but whether it’s 4 points or something less we still have to perform on the pitch and I would image Nuno has a view on the further instability an appeal would create

I’m sure he does have a view but ultimately this is big business and the owners view will have primacy

Just for the fact that they asked the Commision to give us an 8 point penalty, even though the Everton appeal clearly stated that the ultimate bench mark was the 9 pts for administration, means we should go after them as hard as possible. Asking for 8 points was clearly vindictive.
If only all the clubs in the bottom half would work together, to pursue a better deal, rather than revel in others misfortune.
Remember, eventually they will come for you.

Most other fans will blindly support their own club's immediate interests on this decision (the BBC website comments show that most folks don't know the details and don't really want to) so any sympathy for our point about promoted clubs versus the Sky 6 will be lost. lt's a pity but the PL gets to divide and conquer because it's in the very nature of the game.

Steve C used to keep saying to focus on the things you can control. Guess we've got to wait until 30th for that.

Yes.

We played our part in defending the Pyramid.

That's the hypocrisy.

We don't like the Big 6, or whatever you want to call them, because they want to internalise as much money as they can.

But if we deal with the unfairness it will cost them money.

It's the same thing.

That sounds like saying we shouldn't have got promoted.

We loaned some players. We paid unexpected promotion bonuses. We're told they're not allowable expenses, and allowed a minimal sum for Covid when Everton claim a huge amount. How exactly does this work, and what's fair about it

It reeks of 'go high because we know it will be knocked down'.

To be honest its a laughable argument. Why are we in a position that we have to sell a player to pass? That is the opposite of sustainability. Every club sells players to get by. However they dont rely on selling a player after they have splurged all their dough. Brighton buy within limits than sell big than go again. Its the complete different way round to us. Brighton do it sustainably.

I understand that point but the rules are there. You can’t break them and that say you don’t like them. I think the rules are shite, unfair and backward however they are the rules. Everyone’s first thought should be anger with decision makers at Forest not the premier league.

Some thoughts by Maguire.

If this guy is correct that you got three points for breaking the rule, another three for the extent of the breach, and then minus 2 because of mitigating circumstances, and if indeed you have proof that the delay in Johnson's sale was known by that Premier, then with the appeal you could probably remove the extra three points for the extent of the breach, but not the three points for breaking the rules. So you would only win one point back. Is it worth the trouble?

My take -

1. better than expected points deduction.
2. NFFC response is reasonable - clear message to PL not Commission.
3. Very poor governance at our Club - we knew the rules but didn’t take them seriously enough.
4. we must learn lessons and quickly.
5. we will probably appeal.

We have no excuse and only ourselves to blame if we go down.

If we stay up I worry about our ability to be competitive next season.

I didn't think suspended points were a thing anymore. It was the reasoning to push submission dates earlier. To make sure punishments get applied to current season.
I don't know whether they are or aren't allowed but I can't see them giving Everton another points deduction this season and if they are going to change the way they determine failure of PSR they could push it to the following season and forget it.
