Winter 2022 Transfer Window

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Maybe so, but at some point if Jokanovic keeps leaving him out, the money men at Sheff Utd are going to want to get some of his no doubt hefty salary off the books, especially if Jokanovic is asking for new players to supplement their promotion bid.

Other clubs might be put off by his terrible form for Blades, but Steve Cooper is a big fan of Brewster and might make the case to Dane.

Wouldn’t be a try before you buy type loan, as they paid 23m for him I think, just a calculated short-term risk to try and make the difference if we are in with a shout at playoffs come January.

He’ll probably get in their team and play every week now!

A couple of years back (it might even have been last season) on FM I sold Lewis and had Cosgrove instead then signed Brewster and Aaron Connolly on loan for the season. Even with mainly playing Sammy up front by himself and usually one of the other 2 behind him the 3 of them and Lolley ripped the division apart lol.

And of course, if he could recapture the form he had for Swansea, it would be amazing...

Where can we improve? Probably the extra forward option?

And a LWB, as has been already mentioned in the other topic. I suppose Buchanan is the obvious option, since you already tried to get him, but if you're looking for a cheaper option from abroad which seems better suited to Dane Murphy's MO, one interesting choice would be this guy, from Zinckernagel's old club:

https://www.transfermarkt.com/fredrik-andre-bjorkan/profil/spieler/364938

We have scouted him extensively, he's high on our list of left backs, his contract ends in December, and his club worry that we've already agreed terms with him.

Not lightning fast, but a very tidy player:

That’s a progressive signing if I ever seen one.

It's a little difficult to say what we need from the next window, because I don't think we probably understand the capabilities of the squad we have yet.
We're not going to chase promotion with this team but despite what the team did under Hughton, we're not going to get relegated either.

I'd be keeping an eye on whether Boro, Sheffield United or Watford are looking to pull their loans to be honest. It's more who might leave in January than who might come in.
January is a sellers market, for sure.

honestly , if we are in the promotion races by jan , i would expect sheff and boro to recall back lowe and spence just to stop forest or pay a ridiculous fee for those players to buy them.

Yeah I fear this too. Hopefully Murphy has some potential replacements lined up.

Unless there is no re-call clause

But feel there is more concern with Spence going back if Warnock gets sacked.

Lowe was so far down the Sheff Utd pecking order that I feel confident they wouldn't want to call him back if they could.

I might be wrong but I think Lowe, Spence, Zinc and Garner all have potential recall clauses for January.

Going to go through January counting down every day now

But seriously you would like to think we have our ducks in a row now.

this isn't so much about the player but a potential wedge in the plans of a promotion rival.

I'd have thought they can all be recalled, this benefits us too as well as the loaning club if it doesn't work out, or for example if the player is injured like Tutu.

They're all working out now so if that continues we should exercise an option to buy now rather than waiting to the summer - like the Hobbs situation.

Recalls are initiated by the parent club only. Right to early termination is initiated by the loaning club, if it's agreed in the contract. They are two separate things and one or both can be agreed between the club's.

Typically a recall clause lowers the fee for the loaning club whereas early termination rights increase it.

I'm not sure how loans work over there, but a recall clause can be quite complicated. There are loans without a recall clause, there are loans with a recall clause depending on minutes played ("If you're not playing him, I want him back to loan him elsewhere"), there are recall clauses which are very expensive for the loaning team ("Oh, so now you want him back mid-season? OK, but it will cost you dearly"), etc.

It's not very easy usually for a team to take back a loanee out of spite, unless the initial agreement was for peanuts. In general, money talks, in loans as in other things.

And then there are Total Recall clauses for when you only need them for two weeks

Yeah agreed. For what it’s worth, I can’t see Sheff Utd or Watford recalling Lowe and Zinc as I don’t think they need them. I also don’t think Garner will go back to Manyoo unless he’s unhappy here.

Spence is most at risk I think, because a new manager at Boro could conceivably think he’s one of their better players.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

I wonder if Dane will test the waters in January with some players out of contract in June. There’s some good players running their deals down, the likes of John Swift, Jed Wallace, Joe Rothwell, etc.

It’s about the only time you get any value for UK players.

Matt Grimes is out of contract at Swansea in the summer. Without the change in manager, I'd have said no chance he'd come here, but maybe there's a chance he might come to play under Cooper again if we're looking in contention for a top six finish come January? He only really started to shine at Swansea after Cooper took over and made him captain. Jake Bidwell and Yan Dhanda also out of contract at Swansea in the summer according to Transfermarkt.

Another good player. Lots of them about this year…..

When CH was here we all had a list of players we needed.

Now the problem is who do we get rid of, if we get in replacements.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Brewster would be a very good move for us. Too good, in fact.

This could be genius if we could pull it off as a player that was that decent for Liverpool and good for Swansea doesn't turn into a turkey overnight - I would add that if we could also raid Derby and get Sibley and Buchanan you're starting to build something that could be a bit special

Always tough to get players off your divisional rivals (but obviously that could change) but especially if we lose Brennan and Zinckernagel in a year if we aren't promoted I would be looking at Hull's Keane Lewis-Potter.

I hadn't seen much of this kid but there's some fine looking skills there, plays off both feet, good balance, good awareness of players around him, some pace and an eye for goal - definitely one to watch

I’m hoping that now with Hughton gone and the turnaround of the team’s fortunes under Cooper there are some decent players out there, those who would have previously avoided us like the plague for being the basket case of a club that we were, but may now see the togetherness of the side and the progress the side is making and think ‘I want some of that’. Perhaps we can start attracting good players to the club once again, good players that are keen and desire to be here.

How much have people seen him actually play? I remember Robbie Findley looking good on Youtube highlights reels but then put a shot over from 1 yard.
