Winter 2022 Transfer Window

January 2022 Transfer Window

Dane Murphy said the 2021 Summer Transfer Window objectives were met.

“The three objectives set in July were to reduce the age of the squad, reduce the size of the squad and, in doing so, reduce cost

Chief executive Dane Murphy says two or three transfer windows are needed “to fully embed the new philosophy” at Nottingham Forest.

Late in the window we tried to sign Josh Maja, Cheikh Niasse & Yuma Suzuki - all 3 didn't get their moves.

Main targets who didn't get moves : Lee Buchanan, Josh Doig, Josh Laurent, Paul Mukairu & Zian Flemming.

Sun linking us with Jay Fulton of Swansea in January.

Now, Alan Nixon writes in The Sun on Sunday (19.09.21, pg, 61) that Cooper will look to raid his former club Swansea for Fulton, who’s seemingly fallen down the pecking order under new manager Russell Martin.

Fulton, 27, has been an unused substitute in the last three outings for the Swans. He proved an important player under Cooper last time round featuring 43 times in the Championship as his side reached the play-off final, but has only made three league appearances so far under Martin.

Furthermore, Nixon goes on to write that Nottingham Forest plan to give Cooper a transfer budget for the January window.

Hopefully we can build up a bit of momentum, sign some key players in the Winter, and get a good end to the season to set us up for next year.

Lowe and Spence made a huge difference yesterday IMO. Not saying that Hughton's departure didn't help, but I don't think yesterday's formation would have been a real option with the likes of Bong there.

I think it's asking a lot to even consider playoffs from our current position this year, but you never know :) Here's hoping Dane gets some of his first choice men in the Winter :nottsflag:

while every manager likes to bring in the players they know , cooper should see what is on offer at forest. We are quite well stock in the midfield department.

To be fair a lot of our fans seem to be putting some strange expectations on Ojeda despite his young age and lack of experience at this level. I don't think he's been bought in to get thrown in our first team from the get go, I think we like the attributes he has and feel like he's a player we can work with and develop over the next year or two

If this is the case there probably is room for another CM with championship experience (especially considering Garner is only here short term)

Also got to think that Colback and Cafu's futures are going to be minimal moving forward. Little cameo roles now and again like for Colback yesterday.

Fulton likes a tackle. Most tackles per 90 in the league last season with 30+ appearances. Allowed Grimes to play.

But in saying that, this is the Sun and realistically how do they know already we want to bring him here but just thought I would get the thread started.

Yeh I definitely wouldn't pay too much attention to this specific link, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was looking to bring in another CM

garner , yates , cafu , colback , fornah , ojeda. Fornah has only 1 more year left to go , his future looks bleak if cooper brings in another cm.

He's only 22 though. Be nice to have some genuine strength in depth, and a good academy player to call upon whilst he improves over the next few years.

I think his future is far from over yet tbh, even with another midfieder.

Garner will be gone at the end of this season, Cafu is 28 and only contracted until 2023 so wouldn't be surprised to see the door opened for him to find somewhere else, Colback turns 32 next month and with his contract also expiring in 2023 I can't see him being anything other than experience on the bench

That leaves us with Yates, Ojeda and Fornah. Ojeda could require a year or so of development, Fornah is relatively inexperienced (but looks promising) at this level. I don't think another CM with championship experience would be a bad thing

Things might change when the new bloke comes in, but part of me can't wait to see the back of Cafu. The embodiment of make-do players which, whilst not bad and certainly has some positive attributes, doesn't really do or offer much either, and doesn't really have a game suited to us. The type of player who does little more than block the progress of players like Fornah.

Like I say, if we find a role for him under the new bloke though fair enough. I'm going on what I've seen under Hoots.

Remember this is Alan Nixon who has got precisely….f*** all right so far regarding Forest this summer.

I said on the Cooper thread, Matt Grimes and Jake Bidwill both out of contract next summer, two player who shone under Cooper. Fulton is an interesting case, would seemingly play the Yates role. I think only Grimes would fit the modus operandi of the club at the minute.

i'll be surprised if they let grimes go , he is their captain and chief playmaker but if grimes don't want to extend , there'll be better clubs than forest after him.

Not saying it will happen, or there is even a chance, but just pointing out his contract ends in 2022 and Grimes played very well under Cooper. It is a more logical fit than Fulton.

Grimes would be a great signing - thought we could do with him last year, but couldn't ever see him coming to Forest given he was Swansea captain and, personally, think he'll get a Prem move if he doesn't sign a new contract. Sam Morsy wouldn't have been a bad shout last year, either (had good stats), but he's a bit old to fit the Murphy MO now, anyway.

Honestly think Fornah looks the real deal and we definitely need to give him a new contract. If he doesn't break into the team this year, he should be ready next season.

Sorry, just realised we're talking about the next window, and I'm talking about last season, lol. I haven't yet done enough digging to know who the good options would be, tbh.
