Will vaccine passports reduce attendances at the City Ground?

When I have visited the stadium of my local side, that is exactly how it works - there are lines of fans, in front of the (fully electronic) turnstiles and at the head of each line is a couple of guys (or girls, as there are separate queues for ladies) you show your vaccination certificate or negative test result certificate on your phone to one of them, then you get the usual pat-down search from the other (which is quite normal here), and hence the separated lines for female fans.

Once you’re done, you simply walk forward to the turnstile and scan-in your ticket, jobs a good ‚un, in you go.

Typically it takes no more than 20-30 additional seconds to get in. If you’re prepared, it’s even quicker.

Note that if you are unvaccinated and want to try and get in with a negative test, the test must be done and verified by an official test centre (and there are loads of those, including right next to the stadium where you can get an LFT and result in less than 20 minutes). Self-administered LFTs are not accepted.

That's no more than I'd expect from a society where efficiency is a byword Chris.

The total f***ing shambles at Wembley during the summer aptly reflects the massive difference between Germany and here, sadly.

I'd strongly argue that saying how it is isn't pulling the country down unnecessarily Ray.

There are many, many aspects of Britain of which I'm rightly proud, but I refuse to ignore the many of which I'm not.

I'm fully vaccinated but there are questions over the long term effects. I'll fight for anyone's right to have the choice to decide whether they want it or not.

I wasn't condoning mandating vaccines, just stating that only a lunatic would refuse it because its safe & helps protect people

I think a great many preaching civil liberties would miraculously change their minds very rapidly if it meant missing something of benefit to themselves.

Why do y’all’s QR codes expire?

It’s different for each state but I think we all have QR codes that just last lol, take a screenshot and just show it when needed. I also have mine on the Apple wallet, super convenient.

To make sure they are valid, in short Thomas.

A QR code from - for example - the NHS is limited to only a month, to ensure that only the vaccinated person can use it. It’s a trivial matter to generate new codes from the app, anyway.

That's if anyone can even equate wearing a mask or having a jab to help wider society as having their liberties curtailed in the first place. People bang on about it like it's the end of the f***ing universe or something

Frankly as I often wear a Boba Fett helmet when out in public, an actual FFP2 facemask is small beer.

I've had every jab offered as soon as I was offered it and have worn a face mask pretty much every time I've needed to (bar a couple of times when I forgot to bring one and the shop was pretty empty anyway so didn't).

However, at some point, and I have no idea when this will be, I DO want to return to a world where we don't have to wear face masks or take tests before going into venues etc, and my worry is that the longer we live under these restrictions the more normalised these things will become and so will end up being parts of everyday life forever.

It's not necessarily human rights or civil liberties but about the kind of world I want to live in.

I don't think it'll have any obvious impact. Most people will want to see the football and if there's a bit of a queue so be it. I also think a lot of the younger males who are refusing the vaccine will suck it up and have it if means being able to watch Forest. Obviously there'll be a few people who simply won't do it, but nowhere near 5k, maybe 1k.

Well, at least the 200 odd who were on the video at the start of the season.

Not all those 200 were Covid victims. I know 2 on that video that were not Covid victims

Well said,young man.
That’s my big fear, once the principle of restrictions and mask wearing becomes established, how long is it before
it happens every winter at every flu outbreak(to protect an underfunded NHS)?

There's already idiots on SM saying they'll either just send a false negative or screenshot someone else's passport

When I worked in a vaccination centre in February that's exactly what the idiots were doing to jump the queue. They would go through the process of booking an appointment but before confirming they would screen shot the booking times.

There's some right scroats out there.

Totally agree with you.

I'll wear a mask where I can, and where it's law to. I find them pretty annoying and I'm not confident they really do a great deal (though they do reduce transmission) and I think testing is probably more useful (because fundamentally wearing a mask means nothing if you don't have covid).

But we shouldn't normalise these behaviours, they are only there while covid circulates enough to cause significant hospital admissions and deaths, and once this stops all this other stuff should stop too.

Generally speaking i've never liked the pre-pandemic norm of everyone being in the office and everyone soldiering on if mildly ill so don't mind those behaviours changing. People working from home sometimes saves travelling, is better for the environment, and saves office space anyway.

Hopefully the nobhead factor has been factored in by scientists doing the projections / modelling for upcoming transmission ect

So there will always be some people who can't/won't comply with restrictions such as face coverings.

The main thing for me is that people get their jabs, get their 3rds when they are eligible, and if you have symptoms which could be covid, isolate, get a PCR test, and only go out when it's negative. LFTs if you're going to something crowded amongst people you don't normally meet and when you can't be traced easily. All common sense measures.
