What Would a FFP Compliant Team Look Like

Ok, maybe not the best choice of phrase...but if QPR had supposedly spent all this money that they couldn't afford, surely slapping them roud the chops with a hefty fine is not in the spirit of what the rules were trying to achieve?

The fine is taken out of the Premier League parachute payments. It's basically the money they wouldn't have had if they hadn't cheated the system to get promoted in the first place. Forest haven't been fined for our indiscretions, but we would be if we went up. As things stand, being where we are is punishment enough!

It would look like any of the teams who havent been punished for being non FFP Coompliant. What a stupid thread.

No. It would look like any of the teams who weren't punished whose incomes are in line with our's. So, basically, Wednesday or Ipswich.

The fine gets distributed among the clubs who do comply with FFP, so it helps everyone except the club who are fined.

Not true. This was rejected as the Premier League were unhappy with their monies being distributed to Football League clubs. The fine is paid to a football related charity.

Well that is shit then. Hard to believe that they have the cheek to claim it's their money really, given that the fine only happens when they come back into the football league.

As far as I can gather, they (The Premier League) don't agree with fining owners who invest obscene amounts of money to get to the 'promised land' as they believe it may lead to further investment on top quality players when they get there.

They must hate the idea of teams like Burnley last year and potentially Ipswich this season, getting up on a shoeshing, playing industrious, old-fashioned football with very few (If any) stellar names.

It's all about mid-table...
The Premier League is ridiculous but it's probably skewed toward the high end by the ludicrous salaries paid at Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Same as with our league with the likes of Rotherham Millwall Blackpool and others bringing the average down.

That's outstanding. Every time anyone says that we will struggle to get players in at £10k a week, I say that I doubt other clubs actually are paying more, especially the ones who comply with FFP. I'm glad there is proof out there.

But that's only an average that takes into account kids, squad players, Blackpool etc.
I think it's scary that the average is so high for so many ordinary footballers.

And countered by the far higher wage bills for the relegated clubs and clubs like ourselves, Bolton and Blackburn who are paying Premier League wages despite not being in the Premier League for (In our case a hell of a lot of) seasons.

The upward skew from those teams probably far outweighs the downward skew from the 3 teams you mentioned.

I think that that was what was originally said, but I have a sneaking feeling that they changed it to move the money to more grass roots projects.

If it was still as you stated though it presumably wouldn't come to us as we are not complying with FFP! It would only seem fair though to apply the distribution on the basis of compliance at the time of the QPR offence as it was the teams in the Championshup at that time who were disadvantaged by their indiscretions. Not those there now.

Yeah, I looked into it after someone responded to my post, and it does get given to charity now. A step in the wrong direction, in my opinion.

Can you imagine that charity hoping QPR go down, celebrating every goal against.

Why not? Plenty of other people were, including Forest fans, for the same selfish motives. At least charities can look themselves in the mirror and say "at least we are doing some good", unlike football teams who only wanted them relegated so that they (or we) can sp*nk more money up the wall.

Maybe. But Sky money floats around the top 2 leagues and goes nowhere near the rest of the leagues.

Yeah, true, but how many matches at their level are shown on Sky? The teams at the lower levels get money by developing 'home grown' players, who are then sold for ridiculous amounts of money, paid for by the Sky money. There are plenty of teams down there who are attempting to do things right in that sense.

We still need a fair few players IMO:

GK: De Vries
GK:
RB: Lichaj
RB:
CB: Mancienne
CB: Mills
CB: Hobbs
CB: Wilson
LB:
LB:
RM: Burke
RM: Ward
CM (Defensive):
CM: Lansbury
CM: Cohen
CM: Vaughan
CM (Attacking): Reid
CM (Attacking):
LM: Antonio
LM: Paterson
ST: Assombalonga
ST: Fryatt
ST: Blackstock
ST: ?

This is assuming we have a 24 man squad of players over 21, which is our limit I think. Excluding youngsters like Osborn, Walker, Grant, Burke etc. We could probs get away with signing just one left back and not bother with another no.10 style player (Use Osborn as cover for Reid)

You can maybe add Louis Laing to that list as a CB.

I was thinking that but with us supposedly signing Mills, I can't see him wanting to extend his contract with us as 5th choice CB?

If we keep our other Centre Backs.

He can also play as a full back I think?

You've all got it wrong!
Given our lack of a left back, and too many centre backs we are actually trying to sign Mick Mills.

Mancienne
Hobbs
New Lb

Cohen
Lansbury
Reid

Burke
New St
Antonio

Bench: De Vries, Wilson/Mills, New Rb, New Cdm, Ward, Paterson, Fryatt

Thats definitely an excellent team (Obviously providing the signings are half decent). Just a shame its guaranteed that we will literally never see it
