What Would a FFP Compliant Team Look Like

Fawazzock

Jack Burkitt
This has been touched on in other threads, but can some people with actual knowledge of football club expenditure estimate what kind of a team Forest can be under Fawaz's stewardship and current FFP restrictions (assuming we didn't have to worry about paying anyone off, just the cost of ongoing contracts and expenses).

The team you are looking for is Ipswich town.

Money spent on current team is in region of 10,000, impossible to say if any players earn over 10k per week.

That team is currently in the play off semi-final.

Had he actually have come here he'd have been sacked here for his 1st two seasons finishing 14th and 9th.

I have no idea about club workings, but I did some googleing. Apparently we had an expenditure of 35m in the 2013/14 season and a turnover of 16m (this is 13/14, the 14/15 figures will be available on may 31st). So that means we have a loss of 19m per year. Next season we are allowed a loss of 13m. So we need to find 6m from somewhere.

Unfortunately the only player by player wage database i have is Football managaer (cardinal sin i know, its also the wrong season 2014/15) so i used that as my player by player wage guide. It has our anual wages at 17m while the financial report had staff costs at 27m. So a 10m difference, there will be some difference for all the none football staff, but I have no idea wether this is 10m. I figured if i can remove 6m from 17m (35%) i can remove 6m from 27m (22%).

After removing all the loanees (in and out), Vaughan (22.5k), Fox(20k), Fryatt(18k), wilson(17k), Reid (12k), Cohen (8k), collins (8k) and veldvijk (7k) I removed 7m. So thats enough left for approx 2 signings at our 10kpw wage cap.

Left with
De vries, Licaj, Mancienne, Hobbs, riera, laing, lansbury, osborn, tesche, grant, burke, burke, antonio, paterson, britt, dex, walker, Mcglaughlin.
18 Players out of 25, with no leftback

All this information is useless, as i used football manager and 2 different seasons for my information, but i had fun.

.....you can guarantee that many of our on-line so-called fans would still be whinging that it doesn't play the "Forest way".

6 loanees out of 11 starters then.

FFP is ridiculous, badly thought out and badly implemented. The case of QPR is the best example of this.

The Football league designed the rules to prevent a club spending beyond it means. So, they say. So, QPR have apparently spent beyond their means. So, how does fining them £58m actually help anyone?

The fine gets distributed among the clubs who do comply with FFP, so it helps everyone except the club who are fined.

Ok, maybe not the best choice of phrase...but if QPR had supposedly spent all this money that they couldn't afford, surely slapping them roud the chops with a hefty fine is not in the spirit of what the rules were trying to achieve?

Isn't a match day ticket about £40 there?

Don't know prices there, but last season, despite the success, they got crowds nearly 5,000 lower than us on average in a stadium of pretty much the same capacity. And they are the only League club in Suffolk and for at least 20 miles in any direction.

Shows that, despite the complaints and general apparent dissatisfaction with our League form, Forest fans are mighty loyal.

Danny Fox is on 20 f***ing thousand a week? That's madness considering he's shit. Even more reason to get rid. (If it's true)

I never take these wage figures too seriously because very few players are on a simple monthly salary. It's further complicated because most bonus payments paid to them are excluded from the FFP assessment.

He said at the bottom of his post that it should be taken with a pinch of salt as the figures are from Footy Manager, not too sure how accurate the game is when it comes to player wages!

"Nottingham Forest Are Premier League"
Something like the below would probably be do-able from a squad with around a £10-10.5m wage bill (certain level of guesswork on wages of course):

de Vries
Lichaj, Hobbs, Mancienne, Fox
Lansbury, Grant, Osborn
Paterson, Britt, Antonio

Bryn Gunn

Cash is King!
Plenty of leagues with a avg wage of less than 10k (including ours!)

Christ, the money being thrown around in the Prem is ludicrous.

That aside, makes you wonder WTF we were thinking with some of our signings. I can't see us getting out of this for a long time because the whole mindset of the club is wrong.
They go on about not selling players because we can't use the money, what about complying with the rules and moving forward? Or are we just gonna sit it out and stagnate in hope QPR miraculously get the rule scrapped?

The Premier League is ridiculous but it's probably skewed toward the high end by the ludicrous salaries paid at Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.
