Exactly this. It's something a lot of supporters don't notice.

Oh they do. It's what's known as 'running around like a headless chicken'.

The ability is there. A few more goals would be great but with the new additions, Britt if he's still here and Brereton, I don't think it's his main aim at all, it should be playing those guys in and backing them up from around the outside of the box.

Matt

Stuart Pearce
Him and Clough should be slogging it out for the #10 role that Warburton favours. Good problem to have

Is that a joke? Lad's played 3 full seasons

Yeah but wouldn't have ideally that's the point.:faceslap:

We've been wank for the last 3 seasons as well.

He was thrown in by Dougie to save his bacon when we were in the shit and has played ever since as we've no one better.

He ought to have been introduced a bit more gradually and have an experienced player of a higher standard to show him the ropes and pass on experience.

He's got plenty of potential but he's not quite good enough yet and ought to be used as backup imo.

It's almost as if he's been treading water as I've not actually seen him progress an awful lot either.

Benny must be thankful that he didn't do worse than create the 2nd-highest number of goalscoring chances in the Championship last season.

I can't imagine the added criticism he'd receive from some were that the case.

Can't wait to watch him play for a side with proper structure, style and identity. He's been needing it for a while, and has still managed to shine in the mess.

In a team that only avoided relegation on the last day.

He had 7 assists, so lets tell it like it is, joint 18th highest shared with 12 other players.

I'm not saying he's not good by any means just that he shouldn't be relied on as first choice.

Need a bit more experience/quality if we're aiming for above mid table.

I still find it remarkable that's still about the only freekick outside the box I have seen him take in a red shirt.

Really nice delivery with corners as well.

God knows why Lansbury was allowed to have so many donkey efforts when Benny was on the pitch???

Thank f*** we don't have to suffer that scruffy twats crap corners any longer.

Remember one goal(matt mills?) but the rest never made it past the first defender.

Benny's on the other hand always look threatening causing defenders no end of headaches.

With a bit of fine tuning he could step up to Reidy levels however could just as easily fade into the background and struggle to get a place in a competitive top half side.

I think Warbs will help develop him successfully although not sure he'll be featuring quite as much as last season.

He can't be blamed for others not putting away all of the other chances he created.

There's always two ways of looking at something but that stat you picked out is flattering to the point of being deceptive imo.

It's like looking at amount of shots instead of shots on target.

He's hardly the second best midfielder in the championship either but has bags of potential.

I'd rather people were realistic with where we are with the squad.

Bang average, midtable side unless we bring in a few more savvy additions.

The day Osborn isn't a regular in our side is probably the day we're in the Premier League, so I would take that.

Where's me hammer?
Even Lansbury could the odd head from a corner.

The irony being without his contributions last season we'd probably be in League 1 now.

Benny is our most technically gifted footballer by a country mile. He's been hindered by having to graft his knackers off in a dogshit midfield. I'm more than sure that MW will make our dogshit midfield less dogshit and that we will see how fine a player Benny really is.
I see Benny as an attacking, creative midfielder. Not sure which position precisely myself, I'll leave that to MW. Give him some decent allies and he will flourish.
I trust MW will have earmarked a pivotal role for Ben Osborn.

All IMO etc

Benny is a prime example of a player who epitomizes where we are, and the approach we have to take.
He's obvious qualities which we lack elsewhere and, whilst not a top drawer player, in the right side he'll play a vital part in progessing us.
We ain't getting someone with his qualities for a cheap price any tine soon, and doing things "professionally" and on the cheap is not only our current modus operandi (as it was under Pedro), but it's also what most fans asked for too.
The day we're better than Benny is the day the squad alone are all genuine Prem contenders. So no time soon.

In the right side I belive he would actually be shown to be top drawer. Would've been relegated last season if his spot had been taken by a player on par with the rest of the team.

IMO

defensively , benny is garbage. Gives the impression of doing a lot of running without doing much of anything at least defensively , doesn't tackle , defend or block enough. Has specialised in using the tactic of eye power to defend.

using squakwa stats from last season and using the 2 players linked to us (luong and macdonald plus irvine)

Oh my god that makes awful reading. His biggest problem defensively is his terrible, terrible positional sense.

It's Baggio

John Robertson
Central midfield, I thought he did well at left wing back under Warbs as well.

Don't like him on the left of a front 3 though.

Ravi

Upper Decker
He could become a very good left wingback. I'll concur with that.

Not when he's still so lightweight and doesn't tackle much , opposition would bypass him easily and our defence would be swamped.

Yeah right , lightweight . no pace , cannot tackle , can't head , he makes a great wingback , NOT.
