it's fine if he's a winger but he's not. no pace , no trickery or skill. he's playing the same way cohen used to play as a right sided midfielder, would cohen not tackle or defend when he's playing there ? people always say he's so industries and has so much energy, the stats will tell u it does not go towards defensive duties.

Osborn defends from the front, his high pressing ensures teams find it more difficult to camp in our half.

Not sure theres a provision in the stats for this.

which explains why our team got dominated so easily last season and we just managed to scape past relegation on the last day.

Not really though, is it?

I think the times I've seen him at his best is when he's played as a second 'defensive striker' where he's asked to close down the opposition back line. . His work rate and tenacity are his key attributes.

Along with Congos comments this too.
Put the right player around him with complimentary attributes, and we'll do well.

not many players play well in a relegation battle, there a reason newcastle where sniffing around in jan. cant wait to see the likes of osborn, cash, worral, clough playing with a bit of confidence and good tactics

Yup. Hopefully a year maturing, and the addition of a few players already experienced enough to be peaking, but also young enough & injury free to be reliable, will see things gel nicely.

Sensible hair cut, no tattoos, great selfless attitude and hardly ever injured *touch wood*.

Best position in CM imo, but he's smart enough to play any attacking role. If he can add a few more goals then even better.

I reckon Benny looked at how Brentford play & salivated at passing the ball around a defensive unit like ours last season. He'll thrive under Warburton anywhere in an advanced/attacking midfield role or as a #10. There is some argument over whether Clough would be better - but that's Warburton's problem.

He's a very reliable player with his work ethic and fitness record, worrh his weight in gold for that alone.

Whilst I'm not convinced of his potential as a number 10, I think he'd be a very good player to have in a three man midfield or as a versatile squad member in general. He'll have a big part to play over the coming season and beyond. Of all the midfielders currently at the club, it baffles me that some folk think Benny should be the one we get rid of. There's a good reason why the likes of Newcastle are interested in him, I hope we keep him.

Really, when he's the only person doing that! I think the only thing you can say is that if we had 11 that put in what he did then we wouldn't have been in that position.

Osborn's still young but needs to improve if he's gonna play regularly.

We've been overly reliant on our youth regardless of what potential they have over last few seasons as we've not had decent enough senior players.

Think we are really lacking that 'McKenna-like' player in midfield, and have done since he left. An experienced player who leads by example and guides the younger players around him. Our midfield hasn't been anywhere near as good since, acquiring a player in that mould this summer should be number 1 priority for me.

I would say left of a central 3 as well. Play to his strengths - closing down, linking defence and attack, being tidy on the ball and supporting attacks down the left/centre.

Exactly this. It's something a lot of supporters don't notice.

Some of our best performances of the season has had Benny just in behind the striker pressing alongside the striker. Look at when we switched to a back 5 under Montanier and Benny was playing just behind Britt - in our two away wins against Ipswich & Barnsley he was vital playing that role. He then did it again under Warburton in a couple of home games.

Whatever happens this season we have good options in an attacking sense.

In my opinon his best role is a central midfielder as part of a 3, playing a box-to-box role. With the ball he can play as a 10 and without it he can slot into the central midfield. He does need to start adding more goals to his game, though.

Warburton, I think will focus Osborn a bit more so he's running round everywhere less and moving with more purpose and direction. Osborn is the one player I expect to see come on in big leaps and bounds next season.

Good squad player but wouldn't start in my first 11. Does lots of things well but not really anything great other than he's as healthy as a horse which is everything the last few seasons.
