Think some are being a bit harsh, he was far from useless. Inconsistent, fine, he had some really solid games at left back and others where he looked a liability, but generally he was an OK Championship full back.

Good luck to him if he does go over to the States, fantastic opportunity for himself. Does make us really short at left back but you'd hope the club have someone lined up.

Presumably the lads back in training because it would be an odd one to say the least to take a player whose just had surgery and not proven his recovery?. For me this smacks of a Dane decision, I can imagine he has cy a special dislike for players like Blackett and will see them
Probably rightly as a leech on finances.
We’ve had the mother of all enemas this summer…surely there have to be some replacements imminent?.

Seriously, where do you get this sort of nonsense from?

I enjoyed his cameos as a 'defensive left-winger'.

Unless I've got this wrong, it's apparently loan with option to buy but didn't he only sign 2yr contract which he's into final season of, so how could we get a fee?
Also MLS secondary transfer window ended yesterday so presumably he's unavailable to play or do they have extended window for loans?.

I think it's because of where the MLS season is on the calendar.

Their current season runs from April to November. But is expected to return to the usual March start time for next season. That means their pre-season training would start around January 2022

So, if he goes there until the end of their Season - he'd return to us, still under contract this November. If they wanted him back for next season, they'd have to pay a fee - or wait until July (when their season would be half done) when his contract expires.

Ok Cortez, thanks. I'm vaguely aware of the group, but I'm not familiar with their records. I initially assumed that Mase agreed my point, so that's probably not the case then.

Apologies Frank, attempt at humour. I agree with pretty much all of your points, including that one.

You teed me up, I smashed it out the back of the range, although two likes is a very disappointing return I have to say.

We must have someone lined up.. Odd we need two LB now..
Move doesn't effect us short term with him injured but does long term for cover, never rated him but thought he'd do for cover this season.
Unless Bong impressed training with bomb squad:eek:mfg:

Why did you say that?-it isn’t such a stupid comment. I’d imagine his “money ball” stats look abysmal, he’s what 28? so clearly not an untapped diamond and therefore on pretty much every level has the “experienced makeweight” tag that we are supposedly moving away from in this new era.
Isn’t that the opposite to the Danes reported modus operandi?.
Or do you know something I don’t?

Surprisingly still without a club. I'd have him back in a heartbeat..

Id rather stick Colback there than put Ribeiro back when he clearly wasnt good enough.

Same with Blackett, showed a couple of glimpses, but not good enough so get rid when the opportunity presents itself. Then recruit better players.

The fact is Chris, you unwittingly managed to highlight my poor knowledge of pop music of this millennium.

If you don't know what his moneyball stats are, or what they even comprise of, how do you know if they look abysmal? I just don't like the language that DM would dislike him and describing the player as a leech when in reality he had a stop start season mainly due to injuries (which aren't really under his control).

For all we know CH and DM could be quite happy to have Blackett as part of the squad but Blackett wants an opportunity to go to America while he is still at a good age and where he could potentially earn a much longer contract.

The manager there is Jaap Stam as well - who Blackett probably played his best football under.

Where did I say leech?
And what’s wrong with the language other than you don’t agree with it?.

Sorry Gandalf and with the greatest respect as you seem not to like my language-how is your assessment any more evidenced based reasonable than mine?. Both are conjecture and if we can't do that whats the point of the bloody forum?

As well as this, in the recent Athletic article on Dane Murphy, Paul Taylor has some quotes from Hunter Freeman, former team-mate and friend of Murphy and now head of domestic recruitment at FC Cinicinatti.

In light of that, this quote piqued my interest:

“Now he [Murphy] is in Nottingham it is a more similar playing field, in terms of what the ownership there is willing to spend, in comparison to where we are. There are some players that we know of in Nottingham, who have been on our radar. We talk a lot as friends… but it nearly always turns to business eventually, when you end up talking about possibilities and what might get done.”

Starting to think this might be a goer. Blackett out and Buchanan/Doig in is clear progress.
