Too good for Nottingham Forest

Might as well face it, Assombalonga and Burke will soon be gone. Their own career aspirations have to be taken into account,
the rewards to be garnered would turn anyone's head. We can only hope they go for a large fee that will consolidate the club financially.

Britt has more of a bond with the fans than Antonio did, but then again Guedioura had a better bond with fans than any of them yet he broke my heart and split at the 11th hour of deadline day :(

The players look after number 1, you have to remember these '1 club players' like Giggs and Gerrard WERE at United and Liverpool it's not like they were at West Brom or Aston Villa. Neither Britt or Burke would bat an eyelid if they were offered a big money move to a decent Premier League club.

I genuinely think Britt will stay. Principled guy from what I've read and heard. Will feel he owes us for last season and will arguably fetch a higher fee after a successful and injury free season (please!) when bidding clubs can be sure he's not a serial crock.

Olly not so sure. Very ambitious young man by all accounts. Nothing wrong with that just think his head will be turned easier. Hopefully he's sees his future under what appears to be a very capable manager.

Maybe at the end of the day it will come back to whay the prophet that is Stevie V says:

Money talks.

Antonio will be on the plane to Russia in 2018, he made a fantastic move to a club on the up

Yes; for me, Michail Antonio was clearly too good for the Championship.

And he's made the step-up with ease.

Oliver Burke isn't at that level - yet. For him, Patrick Bamford is the object lesson there; does he just want the money, in return for being hawked-out on loan twice a year, or does he want to go all-in, commit long-term to improving himself at Forest and let's see what we can do?

Under contract. Forcing them to stay for at least another year couldn't be easier.

If they don't like it then tough. The scousers almost won the Premier League by telling Suarez to pipe down and get on with it.

That won't work, they see out their contact and move for nothing.

Burke just signed a four and a half year deal in February, and Assombalonga is in year three of a five year deal. All the time in the world.

I did not know that. However I presume that, other than those involved, nobody knows the content of those contracts. Also no footballers contract is ironclad.

As Tropix says, both have ages on their contract yet. Regards content a 5m signing won't have "can leave for threpance" in there, and I don't think any youth player has ever had "I can leave for X amount" in their contract here have they?

I don't think either will mind staying at least until the next window, or season end to see where things stand. And after his recent injury, I think Britt will more than appriciate you stand by those who stood by you.

Time will tell, but - with the signings we've already seen - I don't think either will be sold without potential replacements being lined up anyway.

It's all about mid-table...
Let's face it, if any of our players show more than an average second division ability then there's a good chance their agents will engineer a move.

Overwhelmingly first and foremost for money.

Of course.

But, as Pearce showed with the sale of Lascelles & Darlow, right time, right way & right plan can see it be a good thing. Timing and method are key.

Only trouble is some folk don't want people like Pearce at the club.

Antonio will be on the plane to Russia in 2018

Assuming England make it.

As far as the talent goes, I always assume that while the club is moving forward we should expect to retain anyone with ambition. Maintain this positive start and you can expect people to want to see the season through at least.

That's only providing that Billic plays him in the correct position. He keeps playing antonio as a right back and there's no chance he's getting on that plane.

That song is probably ripe for an Osborn chant seeing as it's about a boy called Benny who is too good and there are lots of lines that rhyme with Derby away.

I'm sure Pearce didn't want to sell either of them, wasn't he on BBC radio Notts on the night they were sold lamenting the deal?
