Had it been now Otis as a grown man I would have told him to f*** off back under his medieval racist rock. Unfortunately I was just a pup myself and it rocked me back

At least it was Philip rocking you back and not Andrew.

under currents are very powerful. Thankfully society no longer puts up with it, in my company any hint of it results in an instant dismissal. We’ve moved a long way since the 70s 80s
Because of my immediate-family set-up Sammy I have a strong sensibility towards racism and although it's not as overt as it was, it is still out there, sadly. It's encouraging however to learn of your attitude as an employer.

just happy to be here
Greetings. My second club are King's Lynn and this last couple of seasons have been vying with Darlington in the lower reaches of National North. Every morning here in rural Suffolk I pass a well-travelled motor home (judging by the condition) bearing the legend Quakers on Tour and the number plate ends "DFC" (can't remember the rest). I resist the temptation to knock on their front door, but keen fans they must be.

All good luck to you and your club.
Haha. We do get around a bit.

Darlo and Kings Lynn have both been in great form recently, hopefully it rubs off on Forest too for the run in!

Individuals often struggle to look beyond their own political biases to recognise that the benefits of this situation far outweigh any potential negative publicity.

Ignore the PM was on the pitch just for 30 seconds and look at the incentive they have launched. Our kids will benefit from this, the extra publicity from today will actually probably help too.

Ken Clarke (one of the biggest Tory personalities of the past 30 years) sits in the directors box most home games. Why then, is his presence not met with outcry?

Sometimes, it's good to be politically homeless, sit back and watch both sides rip each other to bits. In my experience though, those on the extreme left often embody some of the most toxic individuals I've ever encountered.

Spot on.

If you are seriously getting wound up by a visit from the PM because you consider yourself a "socialist" then it says more about you than anything else.

Get a f***ing life!

My reasoning why I really don't like it, is that it comes across like as a football club, we're in support of a Conservative government because the leader of said party, is at our club, on our pitch and stood next to our crest taking pictures. Whether or not that is the case, is irrelevant.

Considering the feeling concerning the Conservative party in this country and especially Prime Minister Sunak right now, what is meant as some good public relations for the PM and the club, as the reaction today proves, serves to further split a fan base that is already divided.

There is probably a single less subject that is more divisive than politics in England and intentionally or not, we've gotten involved in it in our own way at a time when we need to be all singing from the same hymn sheet.

What makes it even better is not only are we in bed with Rishi on this, we're getting funding from E.ON, you know one of those energy companies that are ripping people off.

The Rebel Club indeed.

A complete volte face from the culture set by Cooper that we all bought into as well with unity, honesty, hard work out the door and instead hosting a guy who represents division, lying and plutocracy.

Don't all the right wingers bang on about keeping politics out of football when it comes to rainbow laces and what not? But hosting the most prominent voice of the Tory party is somehow exempt?

Personally I don't care about whether politics is in football or not, but I do care that Forest chose to host a rat of a person. There's plenty of other left wing politicians and famous people who aren't politicians that I wouldn't want demonstrating any sort of ambassadorship for our club too, because they're nobheads and nothing else.

I think it's clear that they there's some reciprocal back scratching going on with Sunaks visit. We give him a positive platform with an institution that generates media interest and coverage while Marinakis has a word in his shell regarding the impasse with the council. If it does some good to get it moving then it's been worthwhile having him.

I was one of a few apprentices asked to put a training session on for local schools on the City Ground for a visit of Prince Philip in 1999.

He wandered around to my pitch to watch a group from a Clifton school to which he nudged me and said "there's rather a lot of these blackies isn't there"

Kin hell Phil, what the f*** do I say to that as an 18 year old?

I appreciate your predicament, but I wish he'd said it within earshot of me Notch. I'd have given him a proper fuc.king mouthfull - fuc.king bodyguards or not.
Whilst I agree with you completely Otis and would have been honoured to "hold your coat" am I the only one shocked to discover that Notcher is David Platt?

Hold the rumours boys FFS

For context I put the pic up to show racist Phil's visit. I'm not sure many people were ever aware as the main draw was the Queen visiting QMC while he came to the city ground instead

I was told of a visit by Prince Phillip to a school in Nottingham a good few years ago, and I can absolutely hear this in my head...

The whole school is lined up in the playground, military review style.
Phillip walks along the lines of pupils and then turns to the headmaster and says, in a voice that the entire yard could hear, "HEADMASTER.... I really must congratulate you...on the QUALITY...of your 6th Form Girls."

It's caused quite a lot of angst on social media this PM visit to the City Ground. I should imagine that business sponsorship deals, advertising and corporate income for the club probably comes from an awful lot of individuals and companies, who support the Conservative party. We also have no idea who we're sitting next to at the City Ground; left, right, moderate, apolitical, socialist, monster raving looney... literally could be anyone, yet if Forest score a last minute winner, you hug anyone around you. At worst, it's a misjudged event because of the visibility, but there's an element of naivety if people think that there isn't Conservative money being pumped into the football club... and probably all football clubs.

* This is not a statement supporting any political party; quite frankly they're all as waste time if you ask me!

The irony is if the Tories get elected the city council ward then we'll probably the lease/freehold for the ground wrapped up. No doubt with some generous donations from EM

I dont know if Nottingham Forest should be engaging in the local politics even if it needs to get something out of it...

As LadyP infers, there's a trio of Tory links now, two around the stadium - the letter, the Toton offer - and one, the PMs visit, probably on the back of it.

Too close for me.

Politics is very divisive at present, and seemingly to pick one side is not a good look. Imho, oc.

The tories will never control Nottingham City Council, Ironically, the Labour Council is doing as good a job destroying Nottingham as the tories are destroying the country.
Yup, it's one giant clusterfuck. Do you think people will still vote labour in despite them bankrupting the council?

Whilst I agree as a general principle, we're probably having to align tactically and make friends in order to secure our future home because we're running out of time and options.

Slightly different dynamic in liverpool, which has been in special measures for 4 years. But Labour increased control over the council at the last local elections after the commissioners were appointed.

I’m not sure there’s any sides being picked but the club are absolutely right in highlighting to the City Council who are trying to screw us over that they have other options to consider.
