I think they are going to see that Nick and EM are not 'dumb asses' who can be pushed around.

Given that the initial announcement of the stadium plan indicated that work was expected to start in a matter of weeks I would suggest the exact opposite is the case.

I can understand that the club should be asked to make certain alterations and improvements around the area to accommodate extra fans, after all we see slight changes being made around many new estates and developments, but there are only going to be 5,000 extra fans and a few flat dwellers in the area. Most of those fans will be around just twice a month for 9 months of the year.

It strikes me that the councils are trying it on in order to get stuff done which they should have done themselves, but have been waiting for some dumb ass to turn up with a plan onto which they can append their 'improvements'.

I think they are going to see that Nick and EM are not 'dumb asses' who can be pushed around.

My sentiments too and on non match days there will be new prestigious facilities for the local community and businesses to hire and use.

It’s more than a few flats though.. I’m not sure what the hold up is but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the 100’s of homes we’re planning to build rather than the stand itself.. I’m wondering if we’ll push to get the stand built without the flats if we get promotion and finances are more secure..

I’m wondering whether the delay is more to do with the spiralling costs of construction and labour since the proposals were made?

I’m sure that’s a consideration but I’m sure there are still planning issues.

A Rushcliffe Borough Council spokesperson said: “The club are working closely with us on outstanding items related to the application and we continue to actively engage with them on their aspirations to expand the stadium and accompanying developments.”

Amazing how far flung reds are.

When I went to Rhodes there was a bar near my complex and I went in wearing some forest training gear. The bloke from behind the bar came running over shouting Nottingham and pointed at a forest scarf and shirt behind him. He wouldn't let me pay for a drink all fortnight.

Ps I did leave a massive tip at the end and a Forest shirt

As I have posted more than once (and have been dining out on for years) I’ve travelled the world rocking the Garibaldi Red, and I’ve been astonished in so many places where the shirt has been recognised and has prompted conversations about Forest and Football and (inevitably) Mr. Clough.

Japan was possibly a favourite, and in Italy, there’s a Forest scarf now nailed to the wall in Parma’s top football pub.

Although in Catalunya, I managed to somehow blag a free hotel upgrade to a suite, simply because I rocked up wearing a Forest shirt and the chap on the hotel desk was an avid football fan. My daughter thought I was some sort of God for that.

Win or lose, my Forest towel will be going with me to Zante on Monday.

Just thinking, in the new plan , does the upper Bridgeford end get a complete upper tier?
Maybe a good idea to locate away fans there vs having them pitch side.
And keep the current home fans in the UB end curve.

As far as I’m aware, the plans were merely to extend the Upper Bridgford in the corner where it meets A Block where the roof dips.

As for relocating the away fans up there, not a chance. In my opinion, it’s the best view of the stadium with easy access. They’ll have to unchain me from the railings first. :p

Terrific, isn't it?

Even my West Ham son in law and his brother concede that it's a hard location to beat.

We get a better view of West Ham’s pitch from the WFCG than they do from their stands. I think we are slightly nearer as the crow flies.

Just to add to the planning discussion, and bearing in mind all Local Authority's are different in their rating, I've been involved in a few development projects and have (recently) been billed £480k LA contributions for a £2.6m project (including £160k for education) and as little as £140k for a £6m project. Much is to do with density, impacts, in-year aims etc.

With the wiley Germans you don't even need to have the shirt on. I was on a white-water safari trip years ago and a German on the trip asked 'are you midlander?...don't tell me, a Forest fan?'

Stunned, I replied 'of course. And you?'

Shaking his head he replied 'Hamburg'

EM should tell Rushcliffe Council to either play ball or risk losing the club out of their Borough completely.

All this is something the Councils should recognise, and not stick to bureaucratic short-sightedness. The rebranding of Nottingham now that Forest are in the Premier League is a PR firm's wet dream. One simply has to factor in such benefits.

Absolutely.

Nottingham is now once again a city hosting a top-flight football club, with all the attention and trappings that brings.

If you can’t make hay out of that, local councillors, you’re in the wrong job.

Very easy for the council to call the club's bluff on that, mind. The new stadium planning process alone is a years-long money pit; even with Marinakis' deep pockets it simply isn't viable to build a new ground.
