I’ve suggested before, English clubs should do what the Germans do, and include a free local public transport ticket for the entire match day in the price of the match ticket.

It encourages people to use public transport.

Granted, public transport isn’t brilliant in England, but if it encourages people out of cars, that’s a major benefit.
I went to a Hertha Berlin game a few years back as part of a stag do. Think we paid something like 20 euro for a match ticket and free transport all day.

Unfortunately these councils want their cake and eat it. Don't want cars on the road but won't offer a decent real alternative

I worked for a few years in the quarrying industry.
At one south-coast quarry, a developer put in an application to build houses on a field on the northern boundary of the quarry (in production since 1923).
The Company objected to the application, and explained that the homes would have a prime view of the working face, about 100 metres from their rear fences, and that blasting was undertaken on a weekly basis, with dust and noise generated.
I doubt "Beryl" was involved, but one the application was passed, the houses built (in 1989) and occupied there came a string of objections to the quarrying activity, which the new residents of the new houses claimed were rocking the foundations of their homes, causing exposive noise on a regular basis, and that when the wind was from the south ((the prevailing direction) there was dust.
The quarry employed 30 local chaps.
Thankfully the objections were over-ruled as the quarry had been active for many decades before the houses were built.

The factory where I work produces diesel, gas and diesel hybrid engines for use in industry. There was a big patch of waste ground behind the factory, for which a planning application was put in to build a new housing estate on. Our management put in an objection to the planning permission on the basis that we have a constant stream of large goods vehicles travelling along the perimeter road at all hours of the day, which would pass close to the proposed house and give rise to noise complaints. Fell of deaf ears with the council and the application was approved.

Two years later and the council are getting so many noise complaints from the residents of these new houses that they have requested an urgent meeting with our Chief Exec to see what can be done about the noise.

If you look at old pictures of the City Ground when it was built, there is very little housing nearby. It just wasn’t there.

It’s a bit rich, people who’ve made a decision to buy or rent property near to a football ground, complaining about congestion a couple of dozen times a year?

If you move near a football ground, you know what you’re going to get. Don’t want the hassle? f*** off somewhere else then.

It’s like the idiots who move near an airport, then suddenly complain that the Captain of a passing 747 gives them a cheery wave when they’re sat in their garden.

Totally agreed but there are solutions if people actually wanted to be pro active about this. You can actually decrease congestion and make it easier for fans to get to the game with more regular free park and ride buses. The council are mad as well in not getting a tram stop near the ground.

When I drive in its mainly because to get the bus after the game to get to the tram stop is nightmare to get to especially if we have our nephew. If buses were more regular or the tram stop came to ground I would never drive in.

Or the people who think Castle Donnington is posh and not home to a race track built before most the houses near it.

Yeah, Berlin, like all decent sized German cities, has an integrated transport system with trains, Trams and buses, and on matchdays they put extra capacity on to get to the Olympiapark (which for anyone who’s never been, is in the west of the city in a large area that was commissioned and constructed by „you know who“ in the 1930s for the 1936 Olympic Games, and access was specifically designed to include public transport.

The Berlin authorities have also improved public transport to and from the Köpenick district (which was previously somewhat poorly served) following the recent rise of 1. FC Union Berlin, whose iconic Stadion an der Altern Försterei is located there.

I recall a time when a fleet of NCT buses ran continuously (for a nominal fare) between Lower Parliament and Trent Bridge (the old no.43 terminus) before and after Forest games mainly ferrying supporters from the north of the city.

Remember them well. Although living in Basford as a lad the 43 was my local service.

I lived in Bakersfield used to get number 3/59 to Parliament street bridge, cross the road and get football bus to Trent Bridge. Then reverse on the way home with copy of Football Post.

Both councils inlved in this are a disgrace! They are taking the piss.

Dan Taylor in the Athletic: https://theathletic.com/3328440/202...ound-redevelopment/?source=emp_shared_article

This is just some of the details, but The demands initially:

The morons are lucky the club hasn’t been seeking alternative sites yet.

If the situation described by Taylor is accurate, then I see no way the redevelopment is still on. I don't know many businessmen who enjoy being basically told "we'll squeeze you for every penny you've got, and then we may start talking". All that is simply ridiculous.

Incidentally, Taylor's tone is rather favourable to EM in this article. Has something changed in his other articles as well?

and not to mention that besides you not knowing many of those businessmen, you know enough of EM and how he reacts when he is blackmailed/bullied or whatever someone may call all these.

they are idiots. if they will play him straight he will offer so much to the City and the Community that they can't even imagine at this moment. But if they will follow this route they will regret it big time.

My money would be on „Big“ Evangelos, over some tinpot local politicians who seem to think they’re Don Corleone?

I hope none of the Council members have any financial interests in any local suppliers of baked goods?

If the city council is still favourable to the club re-locating to within its boundary, and is obliging in regards to planning etc, it's almost certain that it would have to involve a shared stadium, whereby the council cashes-in on the land where both grounds currently sit and contribute towards the new development - which was always the idea behind the 2018 WC host city proposal.

The Cattle Market/Eastcroft would be my guess for an alternative location now that Eastside has been largely sold-off.

It's spot on. If Forest do make it the weekend- I'd imagine EM will give zero fucks about losing a little money with architects etc- he'll have a serious plan B up his sleeve regardless.

Memories of my youth, lady bay bridge used to be a cut through even before it was a road along meadow lane across to a Sneinton Rd and pick up the 3/59 opposite the Lord Nelson pub,

Should this scenario occur,Otis-I don’t think the supporters of either club would be in favour of sharing(not
that the views of the fans usually matters).
In my view,Nottingham Forest and Notts County are different clubs and should play in different stadiums.

And potentially a Premier League club and a non-league outfit. I don't really see how something could be built to fit with both.

Randall seemed to suggest in his interview that the plan is very much in place but probably postponed because they think that a first season in the Premier with a closed stand is not the best of ideas.
